”Stayed for 2 nights which is just enough since there isn't much to do on the island besides snorkeling and sun bathing. Short trekking trail starts from reception area too.
Make sure to choose hillside beach villas. They are on the more quiet beach which has good snorkeling, just make sure you swim a bit further for good corals. Villas are really huge 2 storey building with magnificent views to the beach and ocean.

”The Shangti-La is just a step up from other hotels. Yes, it's big and busy but the staff go out of their way to really spoil you. I'm vegan and they bent over backwards to ensure I had a great breakfast, sent soy milk to my room tweaked dishes so I ate well. And the location - oh my. We stayed in a garden room and could walk straight out looking at the sea. Room had a shower and a bath, was well stocked. Water in the fridge every day. Their Spa was great too. I can't think of anything bad about...

Room is very clean and has all fancy things like Dyson hair dryer and electric curtains. Free soft drinks. There are some umbrellas, luggage scale etc to use.

"Shangri-La is not located in the center of Kota Kinabalu but it is surrounded in the beautiful nature and worth staying. We had booked a nice room in the Ocean view part of the hotel. Restaurant called Oceano, had really good food and service and we ended up eating breakfast, lunch and dinner there. Food and staff lead by Charlie took very good care of us and made us feel really welcome. We did daily trips to the wells and canopy walk and if you wanted to stay in the resort you could do horse riding, swimming, walking in the beach etc. We do not play golf but there was a very good spa located in the golf club so we went to have treatment there. We simply had a very good time. We can recommend the resort to anybody who loves nature and good service!"
