Très belle maison, très bien dormi !

Nous avons passé une nuit dans ce petit hôtel lors de notre passage à Kandy. Super accueil, hôtel ou plutôt maison magnifique, bon repas. La chambre n'était pas immense, mais nous avons super bien dormi, la salle de bain était très belle. Le soir nous avons joué au billard. Très bon petit déjeuner.

Umesh and Danushka of Clove Villa made our stay above and beyond what we were expecting. This was one of the best accommodations on our 2 week trip to Sri Lanka with rooms and villa hotel decorated beautifully with a fantastic peaceful pool area. The unexpected surprise were the meals as we found out Umesh was a chef who prepared the best meals we experienced on this trip. As we continued on the trip we kept referring back to these meals which were over and above the rest. Danushka was also at hand providing the best service and attention for anything we needed. It really was Umesh and Danushka's detail and royal treatment provided who made this a special stay.

2 night stay as part of a 10 day holiday

Lovely boutique hotel made even more special by the people who work here. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, an excellent en-suite shower room, and a balcony with a view over the pool. The downstairs lounge and breakfast area were also spacious and lovely. Dinner was served outside on a balcony overlooking the front. Dinners were lovely Sri Lankan curries and the portions were very big. Too big for us but delicious! Breakfasts were also lovely, fresh fruit and honey curd followed by a choice of eggs and bacon and sausage if wanted. Clove Villa is very peaceful and it was lovely to wake up to the sound of birds. It is well-placed to spend time in Kandy, visit the relic of the tooth temple and the Royal Botanical Gardens. Particular thanks to Umesh (the chef) and Danushka who made our short stay very special.

A wonderful boutique hotel in excellent style with pool and gardens. The location is perfect tranquility after a days sightseeing in town, with spacious rooms and lots of private corners where you can sit (pool, garden, veranda, roof top, lounge) and read/relax. The service is perfect, from the first moment of arrival to departure. The hotel also arranged transport and tour guides, taking great care to ensure our safety and comfort and making sure we saw the most possible - including lesser known sites. We took the option of full-board and this is to be highly recommended - Western and Sri-lankan food is offered and we opted for four nights of Sri-Lankan food and were amazed by the dishes but also the explanations of the (to us unknown) vegegtables and regions. There is no better way to know a country than through it's food and friendly people. If we are in Kandy again, there is no question that we will stay anywhere but here - nothing else would compare.

Great taste in interior decor

Enjoyed our two nights stay here and impressed with the upscale internal furnishings. Dinner was good both nights. Freshly made soups and a terrific rice and curry. Charly was very welcoming. The property is out of the centre so need transport or order a tuk tuk. Not sure Kandy merited a two night stay despite how nice Clove Villa was. Enjoyed the nearby Botanical Gardens more than the holy tooth temple and the town centre was less impressive than expected given it qualified as a UNESCO heritage site.

Small and beautiful Villa in Kandy

* Like: -- Location: In suburb of Kandy so it’s inside the city. -- Room: This is a hotel modified from a villa so no many rooms. Lobby, garden are well decorated. Our room is OK for two people. -- Staff: Friendly and respond quickly to our demands. -- Pool: A small pool is available. -- Breakfast: Good. * Dislike: -- The room make us feel like going into someone’s bedroom. It’s simple and practical. -- Road outside is a little bit narrow and winding.

Peaceful, stylish, comfortable with great food

Beautiful place decorated with style and elegance. The bed and pillows were so comfortable and the shower hot a day strong. It was so quiet at night. The meals were restaurant quality and could be ordered directly with the chef. Attractions and shopping were 10 minutes away from the noise a day crowds. It was lovely place to stay and we wished we could have stayed longer

CLOVE VILLA, KANDY- JUST THE BEST POSSIBLE.

Been to Sri Lanka 4 times, stayed in around a dozen hotels and without doubt this was the best from every point of view, irrespective of price. The room we had was huge, a marble bathroom and really big walk-in shower. Extra king-size bed and white, crisp expensive bed linen and pillows. It's in a residential area so it is quiet and peaceful but not far from city centre. Although we had a rented car - we drove 1500 kilometres in a week to the far South-west and back to Colombo - they booked us a Tuk-Tuk and for 3 hours it cost us £7.50, plus a very goodly tip. The best shrimp tempura for dinner I have ever eaten and a very tender filet steak, wine and pud around £35 for two, served on the premises. Best of all was Charlie, who did everything from holding the umbrella over our heads in the rain upon arrival, to serving dinner, mixing the cocktails and making us laugh. We christened him Charlie Brown for some unknown reason and he loved it. He was the salt of the Sri Lankan earth.

Topaccommodatie

We hebben hier 2 dagen mogen verblijven. Wat een topaccommodatie is dit. Charlie en collega's doen er alles aan om je je thuis te laten voelen. Ontbijt, lunch en diner zijn van uitzonderlijke kwaliteit. Zwembad is mooi en ook erg fijn dat je s' avonds gewoon HBO of E! kunt kijken. Verblijf is zeker de moeite waard.

Horrible Honeymoon Choice

We settled on Clove Villa based on their ranking. Wrong! We booked a deluxe room with a garden view. When we arrived we were greeted with a drink for ourselves and our driver. We were immediately pestered about what time we would eat and if we were eating at the hotel. We are on honeymoon and like spontaneity. After being shown the room (Green Haven) we were disappointed by the size and darkness. We complained and were told we could move tomorrow morning but nothing could be done now. The owner indicated Expedia did not send the room type which was a lie because I emailed the property directly forwarding the reservation. We decided to try and make the most of it and freshened up and departed to see Kandy. Upon return we retreated to our room and went to use the bathroom and the stench was unbearable. We had not used it except to shower! This was a different smell as if something died in the wall. We were up all night waiting for management in the morning. Due to the lack of English skills we were first told she was arriving later only to be told later she was not coming. We were finally moved at 9am (to Raspberry Dream a nicer room) in time for us to depart for our day. They offered us a cake as a thank you. After the disgusting breakfast eggs I wanted to eat nothing from them. While the staff was kind and tried, I would not recommend this hotel especially for romance. Its a budget hotel quality with a mid range price for Sri Lanka.

Dejligt lille sted, fin service og god mad

Villa Clove ligger noget udenfor byen og der var ikke rigtig noget at foretage sig om aftenen, hvis man ikke har adgang til bil.

Lovely intimate hotel in a quiet location.

We had a super time at the Clove Villa. It is a very tasteful place. Our room was huge and very comfortable, as was the bathroom. A special mention must go to Charlie who went out of his way to accommodate us. Thank you Charlie.

A l'ecart de kandy, cet hôtel (en fait une villa) est un lieu de toute beauté avec son living room, sa terrasse au premier étage et bien évidemment sa piscine ! Le service est impeccable (merci a toutes les personnes de l hôtel), le petit déjeuner est plus que correcte. La chambre (premier étage) est assez grand, la décoration est soignée. En conlusion, lieu à recommander pour tranquillité et douceur de vivre.

Absolutely wonderful stay at Clove Villa!

The hotel is beautiful and elegant, with an indoor pond to welcome you and create a soothing atmosphere in the main area. There is a nice pool garden with lounge chairs and flowers, a small restaurant and a reading area. The rooms are spacious and elegant, with all the necessary amnesities. The staff is truly wonderful! They greet you and provide you with cold towels and juice when you arrive. Throughout your stay, they will assist you with your planning and help arrange transport or give tips for things to see in Kandy. We will come back for sure!

Beautiful boutique hotel, with amazing service. Charlie was a great host. The food we ate in the hotel was one of the best meals we had in Sri Lanka. Loved this professionally run boutique hotel.

邸宅をリノベーションした落ち着けるホテル

お屋敷のような建物で、ロビーには自由に読める写真集や本などが置いてあります。客室数は少なめですが、シャワー室は清潔で、テレビのチャンネル数も多いです。 スタッフの方に聞いたところ、邸宅をホテルとしてリノベーションしたそうです。 清潔でおしゃれながらも、アットホームな雰囲気で、長期滞在にもいいと思います。

Good hotel, tasty rice and curry

Overall a good property, on the outskirts of Kandy. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast could be improved, requires a better range of Sri Lankan/Continental options. Evening meal of Sri Lankan rice and curry was probably the best of our trip and I would highly recommend this to anyone that visits Clove Villa.
