”This was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had. We arrived, anticipating an attractive and heated pool. We discovered a very dirty, shabby out of date pool that was cold. After much communication with Expedia, the owners of the hotel turned up the temperature on the pool. ”This is the place to stay in Port Douglas. Everything is fabulous about By The Sea but it is the staff who make your holiday the absolute best. Friendly, cheerful, helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The accommodation is excellent & everything is there for you to have a wonderful holiday.”

”The room was unclean, the air con barely worked and was noisy, and the noise from other rooms and doors slamming was ridiculous. I made a specific request that I needed a quiet room for sleep as I had an early start (up at 4am), this request clearly was not met. We left before 10pm and found somewhere else to stay.”

”Amazing little family owned hotel, like a little hidden paradise! Also the cleanest hotel that I have ever stayed on, our room was so clean when we arrived that you could have eaten off the floor. Everything was spotless and beautiful. The hotel garden and pool are a little small, but so beautiful and relaxing! The plants make the area feel hidden from rest of the world. All the staff was really nice, but the star was the family's cat who you could often find resting in the lobby. I love him...
