Like most of the other reviews state, the Duval Penthouse was very clean and comfy. The location is second to none for getting around and regarding some mentions about noise from Willie T's, the sound machine in the master bedroom solved everything except for one rowdy Key West rooster who enjoyed crowing every morning starting at 4am lol.

We had a wonderful time at this house in Key West! The house had all the amenities you would need. We were not aware that you had no access to Duval Street---just a balcony overlooking it---you needed to walk around the block to the backyard pool entrance. We were aware of the noise from the bar next door, but the roosters at 3:30am daily were much louder! The early morning street cleaning and recycling collection out on Duval street unfortunately were super loud. The pool which is shaded was a wonderful addition and we used it daily.

We booked this property specifically for the private pool, so finding out the heater was broken—with no notice—was incredibly disappointing. We only learned about it when the maintenance tech arrived on Tuesday for a washing machine delivery. On Wednesday, after the door lock batteries died, I asked Mark for an update and was told a part was ordered. By Thursday, the same maintenance worker showed up unannounced and walked right in, only to tell us the heater actually needed to be replaced entirely. Still no apology, and no offer of even a small refund, despite how much this place costs.The washing machine issue was also never communicated beforehand. A stranger walking into the property shortly after check‑in to inspect it was unsettling, and that’s when we learned it wouldn’t be replaced until Tuesday.For the price, basic communication should be standard—especially when multiple issues affect the stay. Routine maintenance is also overdue: the black mold mentioned in past reviews is still in the shower, paint is peeling on the ceiling, and the property needs general TLC. The photos clearly reflect a much newer condition than what we experienced.We tried to make the best of our trip, but between the unusable pool, lack of communication, unannounced entries, and ongoing maintenance issues, we left disappointed. At the very least, a small refund should have been offered—and I still believe it should be.

The property was clean and beautiful. It felt very safe. Having SO many different outdoor seating/patio/deck options was great! You can people-watch from the deck off of the master that faces Duval, dine/listen to music on another area adjacent to the kitchen, sunbathe on the roof deck, or chill in the dappled shade of the pool area. We were warned about noise next door until the wee hours of the morning… but whoa. Willie T’s has live music until midnight most nights and often times later. Even with ear plugs, it was bothersome from the master bedroom while trying to sleep - however, it didn’t seem to bother the upstairs bedrooms. We did not bring a vehicle - instead opted to rent bikes (best decision of the trip). Mark is a great host. The property is centrally located with a grocery store (1/2 block) and several great restaurants within a block (Cuban Coffee Queen, Thirsty Mermaid, Sunny Eggs, and Misohappy to name a few).

Fantastic location! Central to everything. We were able to walk everywhere. The home is well appointed, clean, and had everything we needed for our stay. Having beach towels available was an added plus. Dream kitchen with Viking appliances and the dual pot/k-cup coffee maker made our coffee drinkers happy. Mark was so easy to work with, too! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Our stay at Duval Street Penthouse was awesome! The location was perfect for walking to many locations. Our host Mark was quick to respond upon check-in with a few minor concerns that were addressed. We enjoyed the daily music from Willie Ts bar next-door and the concerns of not being able to sleep were not an issue. We would recommend a stay a Duval st Penthouse.

Key West Visit

The location of the property is great. It is a short walk to many of the Key West attractions and restaurants. The off street parking is terrific. The late night music from Willie T’s was a little annoying.FYI, there was an issue with the check in process. We thought we were going to meet the owner at 4pm and the owner thought that VRBO was going to send us the access code via email.

Duval Street Location

Location cannot be beat. You are in the thick of it. Next to Willie T’s in fact overlooking. Noise was not an issue for us. You can walk the entire area. Close to store, liquor, shops. Great house. Careful of that last step in the stairs-it sneaks up. Pool was just the right size. Communication with Mark was awesome! Fantastic outdoor space. Everything you could need to cook or make cocktails.

another perfect stay

We have stayed here now at least a few years in a row, and it continues to be wonderful. You cannot beat the location for convenience and to enjoy the music from next door at Willy T's. We love sitting on the balcony overlooking Duval Street and taking in all of those sights and sounds from the comfort of home! Sun is plenty on the rooftop patio, while the pool stays mostly shaded. Parking is easy, and the owner and property manager are both delightful. The music next door can be loud at night, but we (mostly) find that to be a plus.

Property itself is great, pool is nice, glad it was heated. Property manager allowed us to drop off bags once we arrived, which was good so we didnt have to carry them around before check in. Also allowed for us to leave bags after checkout, before our flight. Great location if you do not mind the noise throughout the night and earler morning. Top 2 bedrooms the noise was not an issue, the Master bedroom on the other hand if you are a light sleeper DO NOT pick that room. Besides that the room is wonderful. There is plenty of places to lounge around, get some sun and people watch.

Super time in Key West!

Mark’s property is beautiful. The rooms are spacious, especially the master bedroom. The outdoor spaces are wonderful - the private pool was great for a dip after traveling around KW. The kitchen supplies were great -lots of pots and pans with matching lids, plenty of baking sheets and cutting boards, and utensils. There were laundry pods, dishwasher pods, trash bags, TP, dish soap, and paper towels—also, basic spices left over from previous guests. There are plenty of bath towels and pool towels. AC was perfect - cool and comfortable. As far as the bar next door - Willie T's - there is live music playing every day (that's KW) we slept in the front bedroom right next to the bar and we did have to put the white noise machine on but it did drown it out fine. The music did not affect the two bedrooms on the 3rd floor. We had groceries delivered by DoorDash through Win Dixie which worked out perfectly. Our flight was in the afternoon and Mark kept our bags until 1 pm. Check-out is promptly at 10 am. (the cleaners were waiting by the door for us to leave) We would rent this house again and recommend it highly. Its location is fantastic - a 15-minute drive to the airport, a 10-minute walk to Mallory Square, and a 15-minute walk to the A & B mariana. Mark is an A+++ host.
