”Four of us stayed for one night only at Gion Ryokan Karaku ( half board) The Kaiseki dinner was amazing! Beautiful presentation of food and staff were very attentive. The location of Gion Ryokan Karaku is very central. Just a couple of minutes away from Yatasa Shrine and an easy 15 minutes walk to Kiyomizu Dera temple. We would recommend this Ryokan to anyone who enjoys good food and service ”

”Gorgeous traditional Ryoken. Problem at check-in almost ruined it but we worked it out. You check in and receive a cotton kimono, toe socks and slippers. Everyone floats around like it’s ancient Japan. The rooms are lovely and spacious for Japan. The onsen is like an excellent spa! Hot pools indoor and outside in a small garden, waterfall-massage, steam room, dry sauna, cold plunge. Luxurious bath products and complimentary ice cream bars at the end. It’s transformational. ”일본스런 숙소로 오사카 도톤보리 가깝고 지하 대욕장도 작긴하지만 충분히 이용하기 좋았어요. 제가 교토 일일버스투어 신청해서 츠루동탄앞에서 집결했는데 여기 숙소에서 집결장소가 도보 1분거리로 신호등만 건너면 바로앞이예요. 다만 호텔과 비교하면 열쇠키이고 창문열면 밖이 좀 시끄럽다는거 빼고 좋아요.”

”Amazing get-away from Kyoto's city center. Public bath (onsen like facilities) were great. Our room was spacious and futons were comfy. Location was in the middle of residential area and the nearest train station was some 900 meters away. We ended up walking to Kyoto train station which was less than 2,5km. Great experience!”

”Stayed for one night here. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and had good amenities. The onsen (bath) at the 6th floor was very nice and had good water temperature, not too hot but pleasantly warm. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast chef was super friendly and spoke good English too - he explained what each dish was clearly. I highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Kyoto.”

”The ryokan and the area surrounding it was absolutely beautiful. The staff are very kind and will take the time to assist as much as possible, even with the language barrier. Breakfast and dinner is included. A free shuttle is available for pickup/dropoff between 2 stations at certain times, inquire when making the reservations. The room with private bath is absolutely gorgeous. Would definitely visit again.”

”Lovely, quiet ryokan. Beautifull small garden. Lot of young travellers. Cozy kind of youth hostel. With taxis and busses one can reach whatever place. Lovely personel, except the owner whose moods vary a lot depending on alcohol intake. In three nights the mouldproblem in specially naths started to produce healthinfluencies. No smoking-place and in that meaning very pleasant.”

”Pro: 5 minutes walk to subway station, 7-11 and Lawson nearby, quiet neighborhood, standard toiletries all provided including laundry detergent, decent kitchen supplies, spacious room, balcony, Con: small area where bathroom sink is to put down toiletries, esp for a family of 4. No hook in bathroom to hang up towels or bathrobe. Instructions as to how to operate the hot water system and washer would be helpful. Construction nearby so kind of noisy in the morning.”
