”Host always responded to messages although we couldn't always fix the issue. Interior was clean but could use some maintenance, wobbly furniture, chipping paint, loose trim. Quaint and simple-everything is mismatch- no two forks or spoons or cups were the same. There were games in the closet and plenty of towels and pillows. Would have been nice to have some basic cleaning rags and spray. Plenty of outdoor seating and beach toys, but also cans and spent firework trash was on the property.”

8. Cozy 2 bedroom house easy access to trails and 2 private beaches!

”We had a great time but there were some issues. The hiking trails were not that close, we had to drive to get to them. The queen bed was very uncomfortable. My wife actually ended up sleeping on one of the full size beds. As soon as we got home we received an extra charge bill of $150 for cleaning even though we noted in our reservation that we were traveling with a dog. We cleaned everything as well as we could and picked up the yard. They have to expect some cleaning before the next...

9. Stunning views of Lake Huron

Oscoda

”Unfortunately we would not return to this house. We loved the proximity to beach and the lake view from the upstairs bedroom, and appreciated the upstairs AC unit. That was about all we were able to enjoy… the place was very dirty, dishes weren’t clean, throw blankets were not washed and had awful smells. Shower was small with no soap, shampoo, etc. There were SO many bugs both outside and inside, which I’m sure is just a seasonal May thing and not the property owner’s fault. However, there were...

”The address and check in information was provided within a day of booking. So much better than the typical day of check in communication. The premises had space to park a boat, which was a major factor in choosing this property. The lodge also had a shared laundry room which was made available to guests after 4 pm.The unit was very clean and Elizabeth communicated from booking all the way through check. It's the best communication I have experienced with a VRBO or similar property.”
