”At the time of writing, this hotel has a 9.2 on Expedia. That is truly absurd. This hotel is old (they don’t call it “historic” for nothing) and run down (featuring peeling wallpaper, a saggy matress, threadbare carpet and a kitchen that looks like it was built in the 80s). Making things worse, there is literally not a single thing of interest in Kumara (it only exists because it is a stop on the West Coast Wilderness Trail). ”Our lodge was close to the motorway and you could heart the traffic noise day and night. location is nice to close the beach, but the distance to main street is bit far by foot.”

”Lovely experience! Look no further this is the place you want to rest up and feel the warm hospitality of Fraser & Ann. Rooms are tidy and there is a open room to hang out. Short distance from the Hokitika town and easy access to Hokitika Gorge. Breakfast is delicious (don't forget to discuss the subtleties of different Marmite with Fraser). Can whole heartedly recommend this place for everytype passenger.”

”A beautiful place—our only regret was not staying longer! Pavi went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay. When we checked in, he asked if we had dinner plans. We didn’t, and since the hotel is the town’s only restaurant and was fully booked with reservations, he personally spoke with several people to make sure we were still able to enjoy dinner that evening. The hotel also offers laundry facilities, but we didn’t have any NZD cash and our American cards...

”Gute Lage zur Stadt, die Unterkunft war sauber und gut ausgestattet. Aufgrund der Lage etwas lsut, aber Ohropax war vom gastgeber bereitgestellt. Ein paar Kleinigkeiten: die Bettdecke im Einzelbett war zu groß, das ließ sich nicht gut schlafen. Zudem waren die scharfen Messer leider nicht mehr scharf. Und eine Kaffeemaschine für Pads macht ohne einen Grundvorrat an Pads wenig Sinn.”

”There was parking outside every unit for 1 vehicle. The rooms were fresh and provided the needed towels and blankets. Extra pillows and blankets in the room too. The owner Simon went above and beyond when we arrived, during a power cut (Narly storm chased us into Hokitika). He made sure we knew what was open for food and that we had a candle for a room until the power came back on.”
