## Space

Casa Carpe Diem is a two-storey villa of 150m², accommodating up to 6 adults or up to 8 guests when travelling with children.

The layout is typically Portuguese: the bedrooms are on the lower floor, where thick walls keep the rooms naturally cool through summer, and the living spaces are upstairs, where the light and the views are best.

On the lower level, a hallway connects all three bedrooms and two bathrooms. To the left as you enter is the children's room, with two bunk beds providing four sleeping spots. Next along the hallway is the first bathroom, with a bathtub, shower, and WC. The main bedroom sits beside it, with a double bed and art-deco fishes on the wall, an ensuite bathroom (bathtub, shower, and WC), and a built-in wardrobe. At the end of the hallway is the third bedroom with two single beds and its own built-in wardrobe. All three bedrooms have direct access to the outside.

Up the internal staircase - there is a baby gate at the top - you reach the open living and dining area, with a sitting room centred around the gas fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen at the back. A separate guest WC is also on this floor. From the living room, doors open onto the large south-facing balcony: the sun rises to the left and sets to the right, the coastline is in front of you, and a slice of sea is visible in the distance. The balcony has a BBQ, a parasol, a table and chairs for eight, and 1 sunlounger.

Step out there in the early evening with a glass of something cold, and the day arranges itself around you.

Parking is free and available directly in front of the house, with space for two cars. Additional free parking is found alongside the public garden opposite, a short walk away.

## Neighborhood

Luz is a small, unhurried beach village on the western Algarve coast, 10 km west of Lagos. The centre has a square, restaurants, a supermarket, a bakery, a pharmacy, and a handful of cafés - everything you need for a self-catering stay without getting in a car.

The beach is the reason most people come. Praia da Luz is a wide bay of golden sand sheltered by the dark volcanic cliff of Rocha Negra to the east and the Fortaleza headland to the west, giving the water a calm, gentle character that makes it well suited to families. It holds the Blue Flag for water quality and has lifeguard supervision in summer. From Casa Carpe Diem the beach is around 15 minutes on foot downhill through the village - the walk back up in the heat is worth keeping in mind, especially with young children.

Casa Carpe Diem is part of the Ocean Club resort complex. Guests can purchase a pass to access the Ocean Club's facilities, including a swimming pool and padel courts. These are not included in the rental price and are subject to availability - details and current rates can be requested from the resort directly.

The coastal walking trail between Luz and Lagos follows the cliffs for 9 km and is one of the finer walks in the region. Lagos itself is worth a half-day: the old town, the marina, and Ponta da Piedade are around 15 minutes by car.

## Transit

A car is recommended, though not essential if you plan to base yourself in Luz. The village has most day-to-day amenities within walking distance and a bus connection to Lagos (Route 2, around 15 minutes).

Faro Airport is approximately 1 hour by car. Lagos is around 15 minutes. Free parking is available directly at the property.
