It's five minutes or so to downtown Lansing and it's great spots and about 15 or so to downtown West Jefferson. Easy to get to from Raleigh and Charlotte, where our group was coming from. Incredible mountain views from the front porch and the hot tub, both of which proved key to my recovery the following morning!
