It was very quiet and clean. The sound of the falls in the distance was restful thru out the night. The theme of the decor was spot on for the area.

Our first time staying here at the SCL and we absolutely loved it. The entire ambiance of the lodge, the restaurant across the road, the staff at check in, gift shop and bar were all top notch. The Mountain View which provided us a direct line of the creek bed as well as both morning and evening wildlife just added to the experience. We can’t wait to come back again. The entire Black Hills experience is something to behold, and this resort only made it 10x better. Thank you SCL for making us feel comfortable and welcomed.

The location of the historic lodge in the Spearfish Canyon was awesome. Great breakfast at the restaurant after nice waterfall hike nearby. Very scenic area.

Everything was above and beyond expectations. The lobby was amazing and the little bear/bathrobe setup was cute. Fantastic views in the morning and the scenic route is right outside.

Very nice place! Comfortable, and clean, Very nice atmosphere. Enjoyed the pizza from the bar, and gift shop. Staff was friendly and views were great. Would stay again.

We greatly enjoyed our stay. Beds were a bit hard for us but staff was above and beyond helpful and friendly. Room had all we needed and Location cant be beat. We’ll be going back to snowmobile next year as this time it didn’t work out.

Great lodge hotel in the Black Hills
Stayed the weekend with friends and did some hiking in the snow. Very cozy, clean and beautiful place. Loved the big roaring fire in the lobby. We will definitely be back.

We were happy to be able to stay here during our travels during a gorgeous snow storm! The historic lodge, the holiday lights, the festive snowmobilers abd the lobby bar set a great tone. The a win at checkers and my day was complete! It was a basic room but a morning winter wonderland hike to a frozen waterfall and we were enchanted. Hope to return to rent a snowmobile and check out the trails!

Nice but disappointing!
Lodge and area was very nice. But very disappointed when the fireplace in the room I reserved did not work! Asked about it and found out it had not worked for over 2 weeks and they were waiting for a part. It should not have been available to reserve or noted on the website. When asked to be moved to a different room with a working fireplace, since that’s part of the experience, they were not able to due not enough experience working the desk. I was informed the manager would have to work with me the next morning when I was checking out. What good was that! When I checked out the manager was not there and was told they would call me and compensate for all the issues. I’ve waited a full week, no call and no compensation.

Excellent place to stay with beautiful views! Best hotel bed I’ve ever slept on hands down. Had an issue with a couple tires that went flat overnight and the lodges maintenance man, Dwayne, went out of his way to help us get them filled to get to town to get fixed. Much appreciated!! Will definitely stay at this stunning place again!

This beautiful gem is nestled away in the Spearfish Canyon. The rooms are clean and comfortable, though they will soon need refreshing as previous repairs are obvious. The staff that we encountered were awesome; skillfully assisting us in any situation. All the food we sampled at the restaurant was superb, though it comes at a premium price. We hope to return one day.

It’s a great place to stay if you like to hike; there are many trails nearby. The lodge is a classic lodge with a fabulous great room with a fireplace and comfy seating. The room was comfortable, but we could hear conversations and the TV in the adjacent room. There is no dining room in the lodge, but a restaurant across the street. There were no vegetarian options on the restaurant’s menu. However, there are suites in the lodge that might include a kitchen. It was a lovely setting and great ambiance. In spite of the negatives mentioned, I’d return.

Had reservation in the bridal suite. Hoped for a special time away. Upon arrival, was informed we would not be allowed to eat in dining room. Told there was a private party and guests would have to eat some pizza or drive down the mountain in the rain and wind to find a restaurant. Clearly profit was the lodge's driving force, not guest respect. Young man at check-in was poorly trained.

Our stay at the Spearfish Canyon Lodge was awesome! The breakfast at The Latchstring Restaurant was well worth the price, portions were huge and plenty to keep you through a morning of hiking! The lodge bar was reaxing after a long day of site- seeing!Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Beautiful sceanario,multiple photo opps!.
