Take a deep breath of fresh air and enjoy in outdoor activities, admire a mountain / sunrise / sunset view, visit herdsmen village and taste the local food. Chalet is located on Velika planina. You can only get here by cablecar and doubleseat lift.

The space
This high-tech luxury cottage, the newest offering on Velika Planina (as of April 2021), features an exceptional view of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps range and the Gorenjska region. It includes all you could hope for, to enjoy a relaxed, carefree holiday in the mountains, complete with modern tech devices should you wish to access high-speed internet via a tablet of smartphone or even with a connected TV and SONOS audio system. The cottage can be heated or cooled to suit your needs, making it cozy all year round. The fireplace adds warmth or a touch of romance. Inside the cottage you’ll find a kitchen fitted out with all you’ll need, as well as a living room with a large table and a children’s play area. There’s a warm shower with a radiator for heating towels. Additional luxury is offered by a stone-carved wine cellar with an average temperature, year-round, of 3-5 degrees. Plus, there’s a Finnish sauna built into the hut. The cottage can accommodate up to 6 adults and one child up to age 9.

Equipped Kitchen

The kitchen contains all you’ll need, including an induction stovetop, electric oven with your choice of steam or microwave heating, a refrigerator with freezer, dishes, cooking utensils, kitchen towels, dinner service and basic food supplies (coffee, tea, sugar, salt, pepper, oil).

Terrace with Barbecue

You can enjoy the spectacular view from your private terrace, which includes two large wooden benches and a table suitable for 12 people, a separate table made of a large tree trunk (perfect for welcome drinks), and a masonry barbecue grill for your picnic needs. There is also an extra table and a pair of benches (if your party needs expanding), as well as grilling equipment. A pair of sun loungers are also at your disposal.

Fairytale Room/Family Room

We’ve provided the best available beds in the cottage. On the upper floor, accessed by a strong ladder, there is a double bed and two single beds, which conjure the magic of sleeping in a loft with ambient adjustable colored lighting. In the main room there is a sofa bed that can comfortably sleep two. Games for young and old are available in a play area that can be seen easily from the kitchen.

Finnish Sauna

Pamper yourself in the idyllic Finnish sauna, located inside the cottage. The heat emerges from a wood-burning stove made by the top Finnish manufacturer, Harvia.

Wine Cellar

With an average year-round temperature of 3-5 degrees Celsius in the cellar, it’s perfect for wines (Velika Planina’s temperature is 2-5 degrees lower than down in the valley). The cellar is stocked with quality Slovenian wines. The basement also contains a spacious refrigerator for storing food and drinks.

Technology

The cottage comes fitted with an iPad for home control, inspection and setup of all devices, review of video content if you need instructions for any of the cottage’s services and devices, a Samsung LCD TV, a SONOS sound system, 50M/20M internet, two air conditioners, underfloor heating, and a heat recovery ventilation system.

Free Time

The cottage includes a multitude of board games, a book corner, binoculars and a telescope for stargazing. Sleds and snowshoes are available in winter.

Delicacies

The cottage is fully available to you alone, offering absolute privacy. If you like, we can arrange early morning delivery of fresh bread, local food, pastries and a package of necessities. A bottle of champagne and top-quality Slovenian wine awaits you as a welcome gift. By prior arrangement, we can provide a top chef who prepares and serves a romantic dinner to order, right there in your own private cottage. You may also wish to eat in one of the restaurants on Velika Planina, the nearest of which is just a 5-minute walk away. We can help you with instructions and reservations should you require it.

Guest access
You can reach Velika planina only by cable car and chairlift from Kamniška Bistrica valley. Chalet Irena is on 1600 m above sea level, so we recommend you mountaineering equipment - warm clothes and shoes for hiking!

Other things to note
All guests must pay the tourist tax 2,50€ per adult and 1,25€ per child.
If you want us to prepare towels and linen, the cost is 10€ per person per stay.
