Not a five star hotel
Difficult to find light switches. Too soft big pillows. Minibar was not filled during the visit of 2 nights. Breakfast was otherwise good, but the staff was unexperienced 20 year old juveniles with odd manners. Table was unstable, mug was broken, small volume of cafe aulait was poured to the bottom of the big mug, and the pan was not left in the table. The second morning with different persons appeared more comfortable, but still the numerous questions when coming into the breakfast space were annoying. Why one has to answer 10 questions when he is not yet well awake? I'll choose another hotel next time.

High quality service
Traveling with a baby; crib and high chair available. Staff extremely kind and helpful (carried bags, valet parking). Breakfast wonderful and variable (not just croissant + coffee). Location could not be better/more central. Free tickets to hop on/off bus as a surprise, stop outside! Superior Room décor ornate, but not overly so. Tons of space/cupboards (in the bathroom too). Separate hallway (fits a big pram). Slight wear and tear of usage/age visible in the room, otherwise pristine conditions.

Olin varannut hotellin kolmeksi yöksi, mutta oli pakko vaihtaa toiseen johtuen armottoman pölyisestä huoneesta. Syynä ennen kaikkea kokolattiamatto. Varauksen yhteydessä olin selkeästi pyytänyt huonetta ilman kokolattiamattoa ja ilmoittamaan annettuun osoitteeseeni, ellei sellaista löydy. Näkivät ko. viestin varauksessani, mutta eivät tehneet elettäkään asian ratkaisemiseksi. Koska vanha huone oli tavanomaistakin vanhaa kokolattiahuonetta pölyisempi, ensimmäisen yön jälkeen oli pakko jättää tämä hotelli (silmät umpeen turvonneina). Matkustajalle, joka ei pölystä kärsi, pienet huoneet voivat olla viehättäviäkin. Kallis aamupala on laadukas.

The hotel staff were very friendly and were kind enough to speak to us in English. They even offered us options for a bath or a shower and view of the city. If you ever consider paying extra for the breakfast- do it. We were recommended the hotel for it's comfort and breakfast and it was worth it. Do try the egg station they are so so good. The staff were ever so friendly and extremely helpful. The bed was huge and comfortable and you can even check out leave your luggage safely at the hotel while you explore the city and come back and collect it. If we ever do travel to Lyon again we will definitely be staying there again.

The hotel is a lovely boutique hotel and our superior room was large by European standards. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They worked hard to get our room ready for an early check-in. Would stay again if we travel back to Lyon.

My wife and I along with our 5 year old Grandson spent 4 great nights at Hotel Le Royal. Nice and quiet area, hardly any traffic passing by even though its in the centre of the city. The hotel is nice and clean and the staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. We will be returning to Hotel Le Royal next year !!!

My husband and I just spent eight nights in a suite overlooking the Place Bellecour. It was charming, spacious and well-appointed. The breakfast buffet, which included lots of local specialties, was wonderful, and the students from the Paul Bocuse cooking school took very good care of us. The front desk staff and the concierge were always helpful and friendly. We visited the bar for an after dinner drink on more than one occasion. We loved the red decor and the music from the 1960s and 1970s. The location on Place Bellecour, just steps from the tourist office, was extremely convenient. Overall, we had an excellent stay.

Older hotel that is upgraded. Fantastic location. Breakfast was a little disappointing - we went out after one experience. Staff treated us like royalty. Manager walked us into L'Institute and introduced us to the maitre d' before our dinner - nice touch. Beds were very comfortable. Concierge offered great suggestions and helped with dinner reservations.

Hôtel classé 5 étoiles mais ne représente pas ce niveau, chambre et salle de bain pas rénovées. Peinture défraîchie, vieux bain, pas de douche séparée, propreté du tapis douteuse. À part pour les concierges qui ont été très efficaces et courtois le reste du personnel pas très efficace, ménage fait en fin d'après-midi, pas de Kleenex, pas de serviettes moyennes etc...C'était notre deuxième séjour et nous n'y retournerons pas.

Outstanding trip! And our hotel was the main reason. Perfect location. Ideal to walking to the Old City as well as museums and restaurants. The hotel is so welcoming! Elegant but warm. The staff was outstanding! So helpful in every way! Our suite was spacious and well appointed. The bed was extremely comfortable. The special tour the hotel offers, is a must! The views from the rooftop are not to be missed. Breathtaking! This is the only Hotel we will stay in while visiting Lyon.

EVA (Ewa?) was absolutely great. Incredibly professional and delightful. She helped combine two separate reservations for me. Called me on my US number a couple of times etc etc. It was however disappointing to see that at about 4 PM when i checked in, my room was not ready even though check in is at 3 PM...then the faucet had no hot water...i had to wait for a while to get hot water. The rooms are small. Location is good, in a prime neighborhood.

We had a beautiful one night stay at Le Royal Lyon. The staff was wonderful and took excellent care of us when, initially, our shower wasn’t working. They opened our adjoining door and gave us 2 rooms for the night so that we didn’t need to pack up all of our things to change rooms. The location was close to many beautiful cafés and restaurants. There was lovely shopping as well, though much of it was closed due to the August 15th holiday. We loved this hotel and we loved Lyon!!

Emplacement et qualité irréprochables
Sur la place Bellecour, chambres vastes et bien équipées. Une mise à jour sera nécessaire dans les années proches, notamment en matière connectique. Ils ont cependant pensé à installer des prolongateurs à prises multiples.
