Motellit – Mackenzie Basin

”This place was perfect. It had the lake view of Lake Tekapo, and an accessible door to walk straight out to the lake. It was directly across the bridge and had the most scenic view. The room was spacious. Loved the heated restroom floors and towel heaters. It was so close to the food area and gas station, about a 5 minute walk. Love the accessibility to everything. The staff was extremely helpful with the checkin. Couldnt have had a much easier experience. ”

”First of all the view is amazing! Clean, spacious rooms. There is plenty of space for luggage and any hiking equipment. The heated floors are a nice touch and the large radiator heater gets the room nice and toasty. Having a kitchen is convenient as dining options are limited (and expensive) buy what you need beforehand in Twizel. There is also a laundry which is handy as you'll be getting dirty clothes on your daily hikes. Staff are friendly and helpful.”

”Lovely helpful host. Great well appointed unit, spacious and everything we needed. The heaters kept us cosy after we woke to -1 degree in the morning. Thank you for the great user friendly laundry facilities. We felt the hot water system could have been better. The shower was weak and hard to get really hot and we boiled the kettle to wash the dishes.”

”We got upgraded to the Hermitage because of limited capacity during winter season. It was a nice upgrade in terms of us getting complimentary breakfast but it also meant that we could not cook our own food. There was no kitchenette at the Hermitage. The Hermitage was an old hotel and honestly has seen better days. It is dated but at least it is clean. Breakfast spread was great too.”

”Loved staying here on our way to Invercargill - tried to book again a few days later but no vacancies It was a lovely cabin, spacious, comfortable, quiet with noise curfew, easy parking, close drive to the township but you could walk off energetic The reception was so welcoming for a one night stay”
