The bathroom smelled horribly of sewage (not at check in, but only after the toilet had first been flushed). The owner’s response was subpar- telling us this was typical of the building pipes and telling us we needed to keep flushing the pipes and demeaningly telling us to remember to flush the toilet. He said to keep the window open. We had to keep pouring bleach into the pipes to try to contain the odor during our stay, but then we just smelled bleach and sewage. He owner was unimpressed with our concern. The first night we couldn’t shower due to the noxious odor and had to brush our teeth in the kitchen sink. We were afraid we would not be able to find another place to stay at the last minute and would not get our money back, as the owner seemed to think this was not a big deal. In addition, the main door lock to the apartment building was broken and duct-taped open, leaving the concern of safety.
Pros: near the port, reasonable rooms and kitchen.
