Mainstead is a cozy 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom cabin tucked into the wooded hills of McHenry, Maryland, sleeping up to 8 guests. From mountain and forest views to a crackling wood fireplace in the lower-level den, this retreat is built for slowing down - gathering around a fire, cooking a real meal, and waking up to nothing but trees outside the window.

Entertainment



The lower-level den is the heart of Mainstead - gather around the wood fireplace and put something on the 66-inch Roku screen. Bring your own streaming account or pop in a DVD from your collection using one of two DVD players on-site (one in the den, one in the main-level left bedroom). A VHS player is tucked in the closet of the lower-level twin room for a nostalgic movie night. All three bedrooms also have their own satellite TV for winding down in private.



Kitchen & Dining



The kitchen is genuinely well-stocked for home cooking. You'll find a full-size fridge with working water dispenser, a gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, and an impressive lineup of bakeware and cookware - including mixing bowls, a loaf pan, cookie sheet, and 9x13 baking pan. A knife block, blender, stand mixer, and coffee maker round things out nicely. Glassware, mugs, and place settings are provided for all 8 guests.



Technology



Four TVs total - a 66-inch Roku-capable TV in the den, a 42-inch satellite TV in the lower-level bedroom, a 42-inch satellite TV in the main-level left bedroom, and a 33-inch satellite TV in the main-level right bedroom. WiFi is provided through Xfinity with a standard router.



Laundry



A full-size washer and dryer are available in the cabin for your use.



Outdoor



Two grills await you outside - A fully working propane grill is available. (Propane refills are the guest's responsibility) and a charcoal grill. Grilling utensils are provided. Note that the grills may benefit from a cleaning before use - grill cleaner is recommended.



Community Amenities



A fishing pond is located down the road from the cabin. To reach it, exit the driveway and turn RIGHT, then head down the hill - you'll find parking and a picnic table at the pond. A valid fishing license is required for all guests who wish to fish.



Guest Access:

Check-in is self-serve and easy. The lockbox is located on the entry column by the door. The host is available if questions come up during your stay but otherwise gives you your space to enjoy the cabin. Parking for up to 3 cars is available in the paved driveway - note that the driveway is narrow, so take it slow on arrival.

McHenry sits at the edge of Maryland's most beautiful mountain playground - and Mainstead puts you right in the middle of it. Whether you're here for skiing, hiking, fishing, or simply taking in the scenery, everything you need is just a short drive away.

After a full day out in the mountains, coming back to Mainstead - with the fireplace glowing and the forest quiet outside - feels exactly like it should.



Other Things to Note:

No pets are permitted at this property. This cabin is part of an HOA community - please be respectful of quiet hours and community guidelines. The property is non-smoking throughout. There is one set of stairs leading to the lower level (14 steps). The lower-level bathroom has 2 steps up into the tub/shower combo - please keep this in mind for guests with mobility considerations. Winter guests will find road salt and a snow shovel on-site. GPS navigation to the property is reliable.

No smoking is permitted anywhere on the property, including outdoor areas such as the yard, balcony, or patio. Violation of this policy will result in additional cleaning fees.
