Extremely Disappointing Experience – Not What I Expected from Marriott
My stay at the Medellín Marriott Hotel was extremely disappointing and stressful. I was informed that I would be charged an additional 200 simply for having a guest visit me briefly, even though the guest was not staying overnight. This policy was communicated in a very aggressive and unwelcoming manner, which made me feel uncomfortable in a hotel I was already paying to stay in.
This is unreasonable and not clearly disclosed at booking. Guests should be allowed to receive visitors without being threatened with excessive charges, especially when there is no overnight stay involved.
On top of that, the taxi services associated around the hotel were a terrible experience. The cab drivers charged almost five times the regular taxi fare, which felt like outright theft. As an international guest, this made me feel taken advantage of and unsafe.
Overall, this was a very poor experience and far below the standards I expect from a Marriott-branded hotel. Between the unfair guest policy, lack of transparency, and exploitative transportation experience, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Medellín.
