”What a great find. We needed a place that was big enough to accommodate all our family and this did not disappoint. Spacious rooms, fabulous garden and brilliant location. Everything you could possibly need for your stay was catered for. The house was spotlessly clean. We all loved it and looking forward to booking again for next year. ”

”Great hotel. The location is fantastic, the staff go above and beyond. A favourite spot for a getaway with opportunity to walk, visit High Force waterfall, have a drink in the cosy bar and dine in the elegant dining room. Breakfast was great - the food is obviously local and fresh.”

”All good, nice clean room, good selection of beers and wine, decent area outside if weather permits, and a very enjoyable meal in the evening.
The village itself is very quiet, but would certainly recommend if looking for an overnight stay to break up a journey north or south.”

”On arrival could have done with better signage as to where to park as we ended up parking at Forbidden Corner. Also not easy to find Reception and when we did find there was no-one there for 10 mins. Room nice, dressing gown and slippers nice touch. Had evening meal in the bar which was ok and staff were attentive. Meals on the Sunday finished at 5 and bar closed which was inconvenient. We were informed no staff on site again until Wed. We couldn’t boil kettle Mon morning as electric went off...

”Nice location (quite remote and quiet) and friendly staff. Some gaps in the breakfast service, e.g. lacking glasses, plates etc. And the breakfast ended already at 9 which was very early for me. The condition of the hotel was quite worn-out and occasionally dirty, there were several spiderwebs and spiders in the hallway and the smell of our room was musty. ”
