”What a wonderful spot the Shaker Bear Cottage is!! We were in New London for a Colby Sawyer college reunion, and this was the most perfect place to stay. Our hosts Tom and Kem are wonderful, and their cottage is so lovely—-spotless, well appointed with anything we would need (kitchen, bathrooms) and was tradition New England decor. We loved our visit!!!”

”We loved the listing, very clean, quiet, that came with a great gas fireplace. Place felt very comfortable, beds were great and we really appreciated the radiant floor heating in the bedrooms! Host was super communicative. Would definitely come back and stay here.”

”I loved the place. It was extremely quiet and peaceful. We decided to go away for a night for our 23rd anniversary and brought our young teen children with us. They had zero complaints as well.”

”Our host was incredibly friendly and the breakfast was marvelous. A wonderful place! Only small gripe - it is a very old house and the walls and ceiling are completely transparent to sounds… so can be a bit noisy depending on who is your neighbor. ”

”The wife was as sweet as pie. If we had one complaint it would be not to have her husband do the check ins. For the amount of money you spend for the stay he was very off-putting during meet and greet. Almost as if we should feel privileged to be on his property. I highly recommend this place as long as you can look past the husband's crankiness.”

”Fantastic stay on short-notice - absolutely will go back for the price. The room was clean and neat, and they stocked me with extra bathing items and toiletries. The staff was incredibly friendly, and made sure I was well taken care of.”

”Great stay for our 2 night visit to the area. We had a car so it was easy to see the sights in and around Portsmouth. It was a bit rainy so we did not get to enjoy the beautiful backyard, fire pit and pretty garden area. The place was immaculate and tastefully decorated. A fun time was had. A microwave might have been nice to have for left overs.”

”We stayed in main building in a private room (with its own bathroom. Matresses were state of the art & very clean room. Shared refrigerator. & kitchen near our room. Friendly hosts.”

”Pros: - Great location for enjoying Mt Sunapee area - The common areas were great - Very easy and smooth check-in and check-out. - Great value for the price (Possible) Cons: - This wasn't an issue for me, but there is no staff on location. I didn't need anyone at all, but just in case you want to interact with a human when you check in or check out, you won't find that.”

”Very convenient to stay close to family. The beds were comfortable. The AC kept turning off and was glitchy. We reached out to the property manager and let her know we got it figured out, however we never heard from her.”

”You need carpeting upstairs- the amount of stomping around at 530am over the weekend was frustrating. I also understand not serving food right now- however to expect guests to not eat in the comfort of their own rooms and expecting them to eat out in a common area but not serving food is a little hypocritical to be honest. The facility was nice, i liked being able to come and go as i pleased. ”

”Very clean and easy to “self check in”. It is a nice setting too. We felt safe. The bed, for me was very hard and the pillows were more like morning pancakes. The pillows really need to be replaced. I did not sleep well. Over all a nice place. ”

”The communication with the host was smooth and on time. Check-in and check-out process went just fine although we forgot to empty the dishwasher which was on the list. Sorry! Location is very nice and quiet, there are a lot of trees outside which we like. The actual apartment was cozy and clean but definitely due for renovations or at least some updates. Everything is working fine but you can tell this is an old building. I wouldn't call this an incredible guest house because we have been to...
