”山奥なので心配していましたが施設は綺麗な状態で、露天風呂から見える景色がよく、また、食事もとても美味しかったです。仲居さんの対応も良かったです。ただ、最近は温泉の出が悪い状況らしく、露天風呂は温度調節が必要でした。気温が高い季節であれば、気持ち良く長湯ができそうな感じでした。周辺には観光施設は特にありませんが、大自然に囲まれているだけでも非日常感があってよかったです。市バスは頼めば、宿の入り口で止まってくれます。前日に同じ価格帯の日光市内の旅館に泊まりましたが、満足感はこちらの方が強かったです。また泊まりに行きたいと感じさせてくれる宿でした。”

”Superior Room: lovely big space, with western style beds and traditional tatami mat lounge area that can be sectioned off by sliding panels. Aircon a little bit iffy, but mostly worked with a bit of fiddling about, supplemented by opening windows a bit. Quiet, even with windows open – just the soothing sound of the river. Lovely bathroom with twin wash basins, and private shower and lovely hot onsen bath on a private balcony. Large key locked safe in room. Comfy beds with two pillows available...

”The meals were extraordinary! The service was great and the dining environment was beautiful. Close to bus stop so it was convenient to go to Lake Chuzenji. Also a short walk to see shrines in Nikko National Park. The Onsen has a beautiful view! ”

”I think very few gaijin go this far out. Some of the communication was difficult but the staff tried really hard and we enjoyed the stay Hard to navigate getting to and from major stations and it snowed one day at end of March Overall I’m glad we did it for the experience to be immersed in Japanese culture. ”

”It was a great experience staying in a traditional ryokan, visit an onsen (public bath) and use a yukata (Japanese robe). Lovely staff, great location and spacious and clean room. A futon mattress would have made the experience even better, but the down duvet was wonderful.”

”Restaurant and housekeeping services were exceptional. Hotel is well maintained and the front desk check in process was quick and friendly. Room peaceful and quiet with great views of mountain side and lake. Recommend 4th floor if possible. 403 was a great room and lots of amenities (e.g., cups, tea pot, robes, phone plugs, etc.). Osen. bath 1st floor was very clean too. Bikes available. Parking for rental cars. Small gift shop and vending machines with food options. Must get breakfast and...

”I should have booked 2 nights to really enjoy! Everything was excellent. My 1st time in Japan and this was lovely. Staff checking me in spoke great English. I booked a huge tatami room and had a balcony overlooking the river. There is a turn-down service while you’re at dinner. Buffet was fantastic and the whiskey was not watered down at all! Definitely try the sesame ball things for desert. There are clear English instructions on how to use the onsens and an app that shows you how crowded...
