The Lakeside Getaway in Embden is located 33 miles from Sugarloaf, 10 miles to downtown Madison, and 15 miles to Skowhegan and the Bigelow Brewery. We are immediately on Embden Pond, less than 4 minutes to the public boat launch, and immediately located on ATV & snowmobile trails. Embden Pond offers 1,542 AC of fishing, boating, kayaking, and swimming, and has been known as the cleanest lake in Maine for several years running. Enjoy beautiful views of the Lake as well as the mountains of the Kennebec Valley, all from your own beach chair!

Our home is a single level vaulted ranch styled dwelling, which sleeps 8 comfortably. Pack and play also available at no cost. Free WIFI included as well as basic cable, and all TV’s are smart TV’s, so you can log into your favorite streaming service.

Room layout is as follows-

One king bed with private bath
One queen bed
4 Twin trundle/bunk beds
Additional bath off main living area

Bed and bath linens are provided - sheets will be left folded at the end of each bed

The living/dining/kitchen areas are open, off of which is the home’s main full bathroom. Tub is available in main bathroom.

Heating is provided by 2 propane stoves as well as electric fireplace, and we do offer AC in the summer. The heaters appear small but are thermostat run and heat very well!

The closest full size grocery store is Hannaford in Skowhegan, however, Vicniere’s Elm St Market in North Anson, as well as Solon Corner Market in Solon offer a great small town selection of grocery items, a deli counter, pizza & subs, personal care necessities, ice cream & frozen foods and the latter offers fresh live lobster.
Bait, Bolts and Bullets is also in Solon, and offers…well…
There are also several area farmers markets/wood stands/vendor fairs, often found alongside various roadways on a quick drive. We also highly recommend Chartrand Farms in Norridgewock for all your fresh meat needs.

We want you to enjoy your stay, but please be respectful - this is our home and we have poured many, many hours into making it warm and inviting. Please do not touch or move any furniture or decor items, and please follow the enclosed rules.

Attached please find a site map of the Resort. Please make special note of the trash dumpsters, shared swim dock and beach areas, as well as available parking areas.

House Rules:

NO Pets allowed, ABSOLUTELY NO smoking. NO parties or events. NO charging of electric vehicles permitted on the premises. NO food in bedrooms. NO access to sliding door closet in bunkroom, utility room, or attic loft. Do NOT hang from or unravel rope wrapped beams. $500 fee will be charged for breaking house rules, in addition to ANY and ALL damages. NO fireworks allowed on premises

You MUST disclose exact number of guests - you are subject to immediate eviction if additional people arrive undisclosed, with no refund, or additional guest fees of $100/pp per night. You are responsible for everyone on your reservation, and making certain they are aware of all house rules!

Laundry is available, please bring your preferred detergent, etc.

ALL Trash, indoor & outdoor, must be brought to the dumpsters (see map). Take out whatever you bring in. While we do not have access to recycling, bottles and cans may be dropped off outside the Embden Community Center - you’ll pass it on your way out of town, and proceeds go towards lake maintenance. Drop box is located on the left side of the parking lot

Cameras are on site. We have better things to do than monitor your vacation!! :) They are turned off once guests arrive - However, if there are any neighborhood complaints, we reserve the right as homeowners to do our due diligence and check in. Do NOT touch cameras (at rear deck and ring doorbell, as well as shed area)

TP will be provided and 1 roll of kitchen paper towels per stay. Please plan accordingly if extra is needed for your stay. Please plan to bring your own toiletry items.

Kitchen is fully applianced, to include microwave, coffee pot (individual pot (will accept standard KCups; basic starter selection provided)), as well as crockpot.

Please clean all dishes and return them to where you found them

Note - if you are traveling for ATV riding or snowmobiling , YOU are responsible for planning your rides. Please verify before traveling that the trails that reach your desired destination are open, and where they may be accessed through. Not all trails connect to other trails, and we have no control over weather or local ordinance closures.

Quiet hours of 10PM - 7AM are strictly enforced by the Association, please be courteous.

Please note, use of ATV’s, snowmobiles, and boats/water, as well as the use of our home, are expressly at your own risk, no liability will be assumed by homeowners. NO power equipment is included in rental fees, you must bring your own “toys” and registration of same is your responsibility - Embden Town Offices are located less than 2 miles away, and all power toys may be registered here (Remember to bring your current Registration for all necessary info). See Town of Embden website for most up to date hours & fees. Please note, operation of all powersports is prohibited on site, with the exception of 5mph driving to trails.

Homeowners will assume absolutely NO liability for lake use; water depths & temperatures vary, please check prior to use.

Private outdoor fire pit with chairs is available for use, please bring your own campfire wood for outdoor use. Please see State of Maine regulations for out of state firewood, homeowner is not responsible for monitoring firewood origin. Firewood may be purchased at several roadside stands, as well as Vicniere's and Solon Corner Market.

Door code will be provided prior to check-in, and will automatically change after check-out time. Please lock the door behind you.
Before checking out:
all bedding MUST be removed from beds and left in hamper provided. Please leave towels with sheets in hamper.
All trash, indoor and outdoor, must be brought to trash shed
Bottles and cans may be disposed of in the trash shed, unless you have chosen to donate (see note above)
Please leave our home the way you would like someone to leave your home!

PLEASE NOTE- We have lost MANY items;, linens, etc to renters. Inventory is taken after every rental, and you will be charged for any damage to the property or any missing or damaged items!
