”Upon my stay arriving late and driving as far as I did, I had no time to really observe my room get dressed and leave. I actually had to leave right away. I informed them that my AC was not blowing out and I have to take care of it when I get back. ”Very clean and new hotel building. Rooms are tight but clean and have fridge and microwave oven. Since located in downtown Oakland it can get quite busy in surroundings, though 11th street is somewhat calm area. My room windows were on the street side and it was pretty noisy during nights. If you wear ear plugs it is no big deal. I stayed 10 nights and my room wasn't cleaned for once. Breakfast is okay. Nothing fancy but you get what you need to start your day. I probably wouldn't stay here...

”One of the benefits of historic boutique hotels is that they have character, and an experience that you will not get from a chain.
The Stanyan Park Hotel is a perfect example, from the foyer, to the photographs on the walls tracing over a century of history, to the old-world style of the rooms.
The staff at the front desk were always pleasant, on the way in or on the way out.
It is right across the street from Golden Gate Park and a short walk to restaurants, and a good walk to the University...
