The Hermit has been designed to allow you to disconnect while enjoying essential comforts, all in an effort to reduce our ecological footprint. This commitment to detail has earned us the Pages Vertes eco-friendly certification, an accolade awarded following a rigorous assessment conducted by an independent body.



Electricity is deliberately limited, but you'll find everything you need: an electric auxiliary heater, a mini-fridge, an espresso machine, and two electric cooking rings. In summer, enjoy the outdoor shower (May 15 to October 15), and in winter, immerse yourself in a unique experience by washing with melted snow on the wood-burning stove.



🚨 Damage Protection – Peace of Mind Included 🚨

To offer you a seamless experience, accidental damage protection is included through a fixed nightly amount.



It replaces the traditional security deposit and covers eligible accidental damages up to USD $50,000 for qualifying stays.* Very few properties offer this level of protection.

Although the protection generally replaces the security deposit, we reserve the right to require an additional deposit in specific situations evaluated on a case-by-case basis. This measure remains rare and preventive.

- Mezzanine with 2 double beds with hygienic mattress covers (bring your own bedding)

- For cooking: wood-burning stove, cooktop and outdoor fireplace

- Board games and books

- On arrival, you will be provided with 3 pre-filled 20-liter cans of drinking water (no running water in the cottage)

The Hermit has no faucets or indoor toilets: you'll experience an outdoor dry toilet and a totally disconnected environment, while taking advantage of an available cellular network: however, we strongly encourage you to store your cell phone in the cell box 😉

Notre-Dame-des-Bois is located in the heart of the Mont-Mégantic International Dark Sky Reserve, which promises absolutely magical evenings around the fire under a sky bursting with a thousand stars 🤩

- Parc national du Mont-Mégantic: hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing

- Mont-Mégantic Observatory: stargazing

- ATV and snowmobile trails

- Climbing, mountain biking, kayaking

- Local cheese dairies, microbreweries and farmers' markets

- Less than 3 km away, you'll have access to 3 mountains for scenic hiking, backcountry skiing and snowshoeing: Montagne de Marbre, Mont Saddle and Mont d'Urban. Not to mention Mont Mégantic and Mont Gosford a little further away.



You'll be 35 min from Lac-Mégantic and 50 min from Sherbrooke.



And... for simplicity's sake, indoor and outdoor books and board games are available in the cottage to enhance your stay.

***** PLEASE NOTE *****

There is no bathroom inside the cottage. There is a dry toilet outside, near the cottage. In addition, there is no indoor shower, however you will have access to an outdoor shower from June to September (no heating element for the water - heated by solar action). You'll need to wash with a washcloth from October to May. There's a mini-fridge, but no cooking stove. So you'll have to use the wood-burning stove, the electric griddle (2 rounds) or the outdoor fireplace for your cooking. There are no lighting fixtures, but rechargeable lanterns and candles are provided. The cottage has only 1 bedroom on the mezzanine, with 2 double beds and mattresses covered with hygienic covers: you'll need to bring your own bedding. All in all, a true old-time rustic experience!



Guest Access:

The cottage will be entirely exclusive to you, while the outdoor shower and electric car charging station are shared with The Pilgrim (neighboring cottage 100 meters away).



Other Things to Note:

The house guide as well as instructional messages will be sent to you after booking to simplify the arrival process as much as possible and allow you to properly plan the activities of your stay.
