Mandolin Wind is a clean, comfy and charming home located 3 blocks from the beach a mere 5-7 minute walk. No need to rent a golf cart or waste precious time looking for paid parking. Enjoy the beach and then relax on the awesome screened in back porch, watch ROKU TV, or head out to find the best food the Island has to offer.

Our back yard is spacious and includes an outdoor shower, BBQ grill, patio table and chairs. Inside you will find all the conveniences of home including a full kitchen, a huge island with seating, and a large dining table. Mandolin Wind is on a quiet street with year-round neighbors, tucked beneath some shade trees while still providing full sun in areas. This ranch style home is on one level, no flights of stairs to climb.

Within walking distance you will find restaurants, pubs, a taco stand, BBQ, Publix, and Middleton park for summer concerts and farmers market. The new skateboard park is right down the street. Just a short drive to Dairy Queen, microbreweries, a wine shop, beach stores, local craft stores & eclectic gift stores and so much more. A boat ramp is just 6 blocks away.

Clean and roomy

Pleanty of room and privacy. Lovely outdoor spaces. Very convenient to grocery, food. But, if yiu walk to the beach you have to cross the busy street. There was noisy music at night but you couldn't hear it inside. All the necessary comforts: a/c, wifi, UHB ports, kitchenotems. Of the three rentals we've had at OKI, this wS definitely the best.

Excellent Beach Vacation!

The house was very clean and spacious, it was located right next to the Publix and other places you could visit while staying there. The walk to and from the beach was easy and we had no problems finding the house! The house was supplied with all the needs which is usually rare to find but they had it all at mandolin winds. I would stay here again and recommend this vacation stay to others!

Great getaway

This place is just as advertised! The hosts are great. The hot water heater went out and needed a new element. I contacted the host and within an hour, it was taken care of! We had an excellent stay and I would recommend this place to anyone!

Family Trip 2024

What a great house and location on the island. Typically pictures can be a little deceiving when searching online but the house was far better than expected. I grew up going to Oak Island and was great being able to bring my kids back to where I spent many summers. Will for sure be looking to book this house again the next time we come.

Our new favorite vacation spot.

Mandolin wind is our new favorite vacation spot and we are already looking to book our next stay! The house itself felt homey and we loved the beach vibe all throughout. The location was perfect for us! We had a little issue with the washer and Robert responded super quick and had it resolved in no time. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and just all of those type of needs which hasn’t always been the case of places we have stayed. The provided beach chairs were also a huge bonus! Only thing I would suggest is booking a golf cart in advance. A golf cart would have been very helpful and fun but they were all booked because we just weren’t aware we would need to book ahead of time. We loved our stay! Wish I could give more than 5 stars!

Long weekend stay at Mandolin Wind

We spent a few days and nights at Mandolin Wind. The house was very clean inside and had a nice open-floor plan between the kitchen, dining space, and living room. There were cute touches like colorful lighting under the eat-in bar. The couches were wide and very comfortable. We really enjoyed the screened in porch and seating area. The beach was about a 7-minute straight walk from the house to the public beach access. There is also paid public parking if you’re lugging beach gear. I loved that the house had a full sized washer and dryer and outdoor shower. We felt like we had everything we needed to enjoy our vacation.

Cozy

This ranch style house was perfect for our family with little ones. Great locations. Great place to stay for walking with small children in stroller and wagan. The beach just minutes away. Restaurants, grocery store, and park all within minutes away. We loved being on the inclosed back porch and the beach chairs came on handy. We didn't want to leave.

Nice stay. Great location

Stayed at Mandolin Wind. House was very clean, location was great. Outdoor shower came in handy. Only downfall is couldn’t get washer to work, host said sorry but didn’t offer any solution. Then later complained about a taken pillow case, which was in one of our pillowcase and we returned. Seemed a little petty considering I had to wring out everything I tried to wash and take to a laundromat.

Amazing Location

The location of this home is in a perfect area. Shopping, food, and the BEACH!!!! We enjoyed the evening sitting on the screened porch while unwinding for the evening. The home is very spacious with a large kitchen and dining area. The Host/owners were absolutely AMAZING! Communication was great. House rules and their little extras that were provided was so very helpful. I would rent this home again, if available when we vacation Oak Island again. Definitely a 5 Star rating

Comfy and covenient

My friends and I enjoyed staying here and will gladly stay again. It isa short walk to the beach access which was on 49th street also. The beds were comfortable and the master en suite was spacious.

Excellent Oak Island Location

We really enjoyed our stay at Mandolin Wind. The location can't be beat - once here we barely had to get back in the car. We walked to the beach, playground, splash pad and multiple restaurants. Really enjoyed the spacious kitchen and screened in porch. Highly recommended!
