”Being winter there was no extra blankets. Air conditioner cut in and out every 5-10 minutes so the room didn’t stay warm. There were very rowdy people in other rooms carrying on till late in the night.”

”The room was very dirty, ripped paint and broken window blinds. The staff were quite rude, rolled their eyes at questions and made several veiled threats to call the police before even checking in.”

”Toilet had no toilet paper , my Mrs had to use hand paper towels . The stairs and wall way stunk off like damp wet dirty smell . It was cheap but I guess I got what I payed for $88 a night . Only stayed a few hours and went to another accommodation near by”

”The hotel was a great stay for a few days, the owner Chris is a nice guy and very accommodating. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and tidy.”

”Breakfasts”

”Location is quiet, lots of parking. The heating isn’t suited for families in the family villa in winter. The lowest setting on the gas heater makes the place unbearably hot overnight and unbearably cold with it off. Instructions say not to use the air con in winter. It makes sense for eco friendly approaches to accomodation however guest comfort also needs to be considered.”

”Delicious food in the restaurant, also nice fire pits and amazing stars view.”

”Overall excellent hotel close to all the wineries plus Pepper Tree winery on site. Hotel over 100 yrs old and very well maintained, staff were wonderful and very helpful, breakfast was amazing. Would recommend this hotel for a few days in the Hunter Wine region.”

”Abermain was a fantastic hotel. Great location to be close to the wineries in Pokolbin and Lovedale. Room was clean and it’s situated in a hotel that is 115 years old. We were worried about the shared bathroom but it was totally fine. The bar food looked great, even though we didn’t indulge after a day at the wineries. Would definitely come back to the Abermain. ”

”On arrival there was no visible reception, which was surprising given how busy the weekend was. It was very confusing to find our accommodation and we had to call multiple times before anyone answered. The room provided was not the one we booked, and the property looked very run-down. Perhaps new owners but they certainly weren’t very helpful. Rooms were not serviced.For $1,000 for two nights, it was definitely not worth the money and would say, was the worst place we’ve stayed in Pokolbin. Very...
