”I've never encountered more thoughtful and friendly staff in my life. Even in a country known for hospitality, the staff here shine brighter than all the rest. The room was amazing too. Walk-in shower! Lots of things to see and places to eat in walking distance. And the station is barely a block away. Id say it's worth visiting Kyoto just to stay at this hotel. ”

”If you want to experience traditional ryokan with fabulous meals, this is the place for you. It is a bit dated like visiting your relative’s house in the small town. It’s surrounded by maple forest, like living in a nice cabin. This is not modern hotel, if you set your expectation right, you will not be disappointed. All the stuffs are so kind and warm. They are great people dedicated to their jobs and it makes me want to visit Kyoto again.”

”My fiancée and I stayed at a ryokan for the first time, and Ryokan Rangetsu couldn't have been a better experience! We stayed for one night, and when it was time to leave, we wished we had stayed longer. The ryokan is truly beautiful, and the staff is very attentive and friendly. Our room maid, whose name we regrettably cannot remember, was polite and made our visit feel truly special. Our room was spacious, clean and cozy, and the backyard very beautiful. We also enjoyed the outdoor bath a lot!...

”Our stay at the GrandWest Arashiyama was exceptional. The room was spacious and clean, reception was incredibly helpful, and the location was quiet and idyllic. During our stay we made the most of the amenities including free refreshments, a washing/drying machine, and a cute cafe situated just downstairs from the hotel entrance. Our stay here was easily one of the best parts of our trip to Japan and I highly encourage those visiting Arashiyama to consider this hotel!”

”I have never stayed in a hostel before, so I was filled with trepidation about what the atmosphere would be like.
I need not have worried, Mulan Hostel was perfect, spotlessly clean, modern throughout. A quiet and peaceful sanctuary. Mulan Hostel has set the bar very high, fantastic!! Thank you.”

”We really enjoyed our stay! Staff were friendly and facilities were very clean. Only thing that could have made it better is the position of the smoke room. When the doors would open/close, the smell of smoke would easily get inside which made the first half of the lobby smell like smoke. Other than this, we had a great time!”

”The room was within walking distance from the bamboo forest and local restaurants. It was hard to find dining at night because some restaurants close early and you have to cross bridge to search for other restaurants. Too many gnats flying around. Gnats were also in the rooms. The staff were really nice and very helpful and patient.”

”Lovely, quiet ryokan. Beautifull small garden. Lot of young travellers. Cozy kind of youth hostel. With taxis and busses one can reach whatever place. Lovely personel, except the owner whose moods vary a lot depending on alcohol intake. In three nights the mouldproblem in specially naths started to produce healthinfluencies. No smoking-place and in that meaning very pleasant.”
