I’ve rented through VRBO many times, and hosts have always sent check-in instructions ahead of time. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. While driving in from Louisiana, I had to pull over on the side of the road because staff called me at 2:00 PM on check-in day with all the information. The staff member that called me was extremely rude and insisted she could not give me the door code until I provided a “beach ambassador password” that was supposedly emailed to me. I explained multiple times that I never received the email, but she argued with me and spoke to me very disrespectfully. She spoke to me like I was a 12 year old child. She even said she’d “have to call her manager” to see if the email could be resent, which was shocking considering I had paid over 1,600 for this condo. Like WHAT?!! After resending the email, I finally received the password and was given the check-in information over the phone while sitting on the roadside trying to write everything down. The entire process felt chaotic and very unprofessional. We were traveling with a school group that rented seven condos at this resort, and ours was the only one handled this way. Every other host communicated regularly with their guests, while I never once heard from this host during our stay. The condo itself was just okay. The couch was stained, the throw pillows smelled, and the door would not fully close or lock, leaving it unsecured for our entire stay.Overall, I would not rent this condo again.
