Beautiful property! This home was perfect for our “up north” family vacation. We enjoyed cooking in the spacious kitchen, relaxing on the back patio with the beautiful view of the lake, and waking up to the colorful sunsets over the water.Dale does a wonderful job making this a welcoming space - kitchen is fully stocked with anything you need for cooking, baking, etc. Bedrooms are comfy/cozy with plenty of blankets and extra pillows.We took day trips out to Oswald’s bear ranch (45 minute drive), the falls (15-20 min drive depending on road work), and Whitefish Point (12 minute drive)

Great location to visit day trips (falls, pictured rocks, shipwreck museum). Easy to get to a few restaurants nearby, if open. View is fantastic! Very quiet location. Appreciated the hair dryer for use. :) Comfortable furniture.

This home is an architectural masterpiece!  We loved the way it is integrated with the beautiful natural environment surrounding it.  With all the wonderful windows and skylights, you get the feeling of being in a luxuriously appointed tree house.  It is so tastefully decorated and provides   guests with every imaginable convenience—we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Fabulous time at Gitche Gumee Lodge!

We stayed with our adult children and it was perfect for us. We had plenty of space to relax and gather for games and meals in the evening. It was centrally located for all the activities we had planned in the UP. A beautiful view of the lake and we saw ships every day. Dale was available for any questions we had and made sure we had a comfortable stay.

Perfect place to stay and explore the UP!

We enjoyed our stay here— gorgeous waterfront views, and took day trips to the locks, Pictured Rocks, the Shipwreck Museum, and the waterfalls nearby! the Wheelhouse is a short walk away, for a great meal and drinks.The house had everything we needed, and plenty of space for our family of 5.

Great time in Paradise

First visit to the UP in winter. A lot of snow and cold weather but the home was warm and inviting. I would love to stay at this house again. Great communication with the owner and very nice place to stay.

Great View

On the positive side, the home’s updates and décor are lovely, the views phenomenal, the deck and bonfire set up well done, and the closets had lots of hangers! However, despite the positive VRBO reviews, the overall cleanliness was disappointing. The closets held a good amount of clothing, something we’ve never experienced with other rentals. The refrigerator’s ice maker wasn’t working. When we texted the owner, we were told we’d have to make the ice ourselves as the maker wasn’t hooked up. (The ice maker was immediately deleted from the VRBO’s description). While cute to look at, the tiny metal chairs at the dining table were extremely uncomfortable to use for any length of time. The only drawers in any of the bedrooms were in two bedside tables in the larger upstairs bedroom. Both were filled with crumpled pajamas. That said, the home’s positive points can’t be denied. We had a great time during our stay.
