Our room was clean and comfortable, breakfast on the veranda was awesome with beautiful fresh fruits daily and a stunning view, we didn’t use the pool as the weather wasn’t ideal for swimming, hands down our best host for our trip was Andre and his 2 gorgeous fur babies, we felt safe and were very well cared for, thanks Andre :)

We were very fortunate to have our stay in the villa. The views were spectacular, the amenities were tasteful, spacious and very relaxing. The private plunge pool was such a bonus to splash into at the start and end of our adventurous days. Andre' was a very caring host who ensured our stay was exactly what we needed. We will be back!!!

A Indonesian-style retreat about a 15 minute drive from Port Douglas with beautiful rainforest and coastal views from the communal dining room/terrace and pool (both areas are small but lovely to hang out at). We both preferred to stay out of PD and visit it rather than the other way around! Andre is a fantastic host, always on hand to help or provide advice on local activities and dining options (limited locally but there is a great Thai in Mossman at which you can dine in or takeaway and eat on the terrace at this property - Andre will provide plates and cutlery). Large bed with a beautiful canopy and a delicious fresh-fruit, yoghurt, and croissant/toast breakfast each morning. The steep drive way may surprise you when you first arrive but continue up for the fantastic views! Mossman Gorge, PD's crocodile viewing bridge and the Cape Tribulation drive are all must dos from Mai Tai.

serene and romantic stay

We had a phenomenal stay at the Mai Tai. Not only were the views incredible; the room super romantic (with a very cool outdoor tropical shower); and the location perfect for exploring the Great Barrier Reef, Mossman Gorge, and the Daintree Rainforest; Andre (the host) was so warm and welcoming that we felt right at home from the moment we arrived. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a serene and romantic stay in the most gorgeous rainforest location.

A wonderful tranquil tropical resort. Fantastic location and André the owner is a wonderful host and a warm soul. If you want to relax, but also have a base that is central to everything, this is the place. 5 stars is not enough.

Very pretty property in a very secluded beautiful wooded location. The owner is an extremely nice person that has gone through recent tragedy in life and all support is appreciated. The property has a hippy vibe. It is not far from the town of Port Douglas but will be a 15 minute drive. The owner has two Australian Cattle Dogs (Blue Heelers) that are extremely friendly, beautiful, and very intetilligent. They are quite fun to play with.

Excellent service with an magnificent view

The resort is situated on a hillside with an amazing view over Daintree Forrest. If you stay in the orchid suite then you have a garden with a view over this beautiful area. It’s calm and you hear birds chirping from early morning to late evening. The room we had was big. You fit two people with suitcases easily. Very beautiful and romantic decorated room with a comfortable bed, also romantically decorated. You have a fan that is perfectly located so it’s giving fresh wind on your legs more that’s on the head (we liked that). You also have aircon if you need. You will need a car to stay here. By car it’s 15 min down to Port Douglas where you find lots of restaurants and bars. Andre will give you recommendations for where to eat. Andre also makes the best breakfast with different fruits, toast, yaourt, jam, cereals and more all tasting really good. You also can enjoy the swimming pool with the same view over the Forrest. Bring a beer from the minibar and take a swim and then enjoy your beer in the very nice lounge bed beside the pool. This place is not by the beach but had a perfect location for those who loves a quiet place that has everything for a romantic stay with a loved one. We would recommend this place to all of you who appreciate small romantic and nice details in the room and in the place where you stay. And that likes to have a more personal feeling of the service you can get. Andre helps you to plan your days with snorkelling, guided tours etc. All with local peop

Beware. I was surprised and disappointed that after a snap lockdown in Victoria and boarder closing in QLD no compensation was given or credit for a future stay. The request was unkindly dismissed. This was the first very negative experience I’ve had across three continents during this pandemic. The proprietor made our lockdown experience much more painful through our conversation.

Not a resort, bed and breakfast, shower is outside

Just about everything is not as described in the listing --very disappointing. I seriously question the authenticity of the other reviews. This is not a resort, not a hotel, it is a bed and breakfast. Breakfast is fruit and coffee (better described as continental breakfast). The rooms are semi-attached to the owners' home, they are constructed of cinder blocks with fixtures from home depot and decorated with hung pictures and knick knacks of asian culture. The shower is outside and crawling with bugs (god forbid other things like snakes!!). The pool is seemingly unusable, I would not have gotten in as it didn't appear to be regularly cleaned. In short, this is a bed and breakfast, operated by two very friendly gentlemen that also live there. It is a bed and breakfast, it is not up to even a 3-star hotel standards and a very far cry from a 4-star resort as advertised. The listing should be reclassified to bed and breakfast to reflect reality. Also, the listing should state that the shower is located outdoors.

Friendly and relaxed hotel in a jungle paradise

I cannot commend this hotel highly enough. We were in Port Douglas for a week and decided to go for an accommodation away from the crowds. We could not be happier with our choice. Andre and Anthony are exceptional hosts, always there to help with good insights and local stories. They are a lot of fun to talk to. The hotel is located in the slope in the middle of the forest so it is very quiet with nature sounds. The swimming pool is very relaxing and has great views. A car is almost essential to move around, as the nearest restaurant is in Mossman 5 km away. Breakfast is very good at the hotel and it was included for us. The only minor downside for us was that our room could have had more light during the day. I think all the rooms have an outdoors private area though which largely makes up for the low light in the room. Once again this was probably the best accommodation I ever had in Australia.

What a beautiful place to take in the views and relax. Anthony & Andrea were very attentive hosts who had extensive knowledge of the area to make sure your stay was a wonderful expierence. A lovely freshly prepare breakfast every morning with clean rooms and efficient service.

Stay at Mai Tai if you like to be surrounded by lush greenery of the rainforest, waking up to the sound of birds chirping in a unique setting with awesome hosts. We had the most relaxing 4 days in Aug and would definitely stay there again on our next visit to Far North Queensland...next time we will stay longer. It is secluded so you will need your own transport and it will help to arrive during daylight. Breakfast is delightful when you have awesome views to accompany the fresh fruits, fluffy croissant, home made jams and great coffee that is served on the gorgeous verandah. If you like your fur babies, ask Andre to introduce you to their beautiful and very well behaved, sociable Bernese.

Wir wurden super herzlich empfangen, tolle Umgebung, schöner Ausblick. Andrew hat uns sehr gute Reisetipps gegeben für Daintree National Park, einen tollen Ausflug zum Reef organisiert und auch gute Tipps für unsere Weiterfahrt Richtung Süden. Definitiv eine tolle und vor allem herzliche Location. Unbedingt empfehlenswert

After a week of travelling around and doing all the touristy things it was so nice to have the opportunity to relax and just enjoy the property and the view. The staff went out of their way to make my stay a highlight of my trip and I can’t wait to come back to relax.

Excellent service. Quiet boutique accomodation

Location is up on the hill slope where you get a view of the sugar plantations every morning. Andre and Anthony are the best hosts you could ask for. They offer the best guides and suggestions for visiting the sites around the area. Enjoyable 5 days we spent here.

Great stay too short

We enjoyed our short stay at the MaiTai. The gentlemen who take care of you are great. Right from making the reservation until we departed. Very friendly and helpful . We would stay for a longer period next time .

Peaceful and Relaxing

Anthony and Andre are wonderful and gracious hosts at this luxury Bed and Breakfast. It is beautifully decorated with a fabulous view. The bed is comfortable and the shower wonderful. They really go the extra mile to make their guests comfortable. Our only complaint is internet access in the area is intermittent but that is a problem in Queensland right now.
