Room was quite nice and spacious, a little dated and perhaps not value for money. Also, didn’t appear to be anyway to lock the sliding balcony door and not really a fan of just a metal shutter window beside the bed, as opposed to a sealed window.
We only stayed one night after cutting our visit short due to the cyclone brewing off coast. Despite several conversations with the hotel and Expedia, we were not able to negotiate any refund from either, so I would consider whether it’s worth booking this hotel (or using Expedia to do so?) at the of year where cyclones/ severe storms may come in, or at very least consider booking a flexible rate in case, like us, you wish to move to avoid any incoming cyclones. Port Douglas I’m sure is a beautiful place when it’s not raining cats and dogs! We may return at some point but we may choose a larger hotel chain where there flexibility is available in case plans change. I’m also not sure what value Expedia brought to this as they didn’t appear to have any weight in conversation with the hotel.
