Reit im Winkl, a climatic health resort According to Wikipedia, the designation “climatic health resort” is awarded to “towns whose air and climate, according to an expert assessment, possess qualities that are beneficial for relaxation and health.” Reit im Winkl was designated a climatic health resort in 1956 and has consistently met the criteria for this designation ever since through its ongoing efforts. One key factor is its high elevation, which ensures that summer heat is moderated and nights remain pleasantly cool. The town is surrounded by extensive mountain forests of the Chiemgau Alps and, in terms of its general climate, belongs to the “Bavarian Alps” climate region. The character of the weather is largely determined by the local conditions—that is, by the influence of the mountain ranges and valleys on weather patterns. In addition to the natural conditions that ensure good air quality, we actively work to preserve the fresh mountain air by utilizing natural heat and providing ample bus service.
We are Paula and Timo, along with our son Mats and our Labrador, Luna. Originally from the Ruhr region, Reit im Winkl has become our second home. By owning and renting out our own vacation apartment, we’ve fulfilled a dream and are following in the footsteps of our (in-laws), who have been renting out vacation apartments in Reit for nearly 30 years.
