My husband and I spent a few days in Starr Loft over fall break. Richmond’s Depot District is being revitalized, and there are great restaurants and mom & pop businesses easily walkable from the loft. The vibe of the area is really good, and we never had any problems with parking—although we were there in the middle of the week. The comp. breakfasts from Roscoe’s were great!
The loft is cute, but seemed hastily constructed. On our second night, we learned that the wall between the bedroom of this unit and the next unit is paper thin. We could hear their TV and entire conversation—and they weren’t speaking particularly loudly. It was enough to keep us awake, and annoying enough to prevent us from booking there again.
The loft was also dirty. It looked like they hadn’t swept the floors for weeks. It had hair, dust bunnies, and other dirt all around the baseboards and under the nightstands and other furniture. The table in the living room was extremely sticky.
Their instructions say to load and run the dishwasher, start a load of sheets and pillowcases, and take the trash to the dumpster when you leave, (which was expected,) but I did bristle a bit because we paid a cleaning fee for a place that wasn’t clean or properly stocked. There was one roll of toilet paper that ran out the morning we left. There were supposed to be cleaning supplies under the sink and extra toilet paper in the laundry room, but neither was there.
It has potential, but there’s room for improvement.
