”This is an ancient, historic hotel. Be mindful of the fact that you are staying here more for the character and historical significance then for the comfort. Stairways are small and steep and parking - went available at all - is challenging. That said, however, the staff is very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our one night stay.”

”Staff need training. No welcome from reception. Room needed a lot of updating. Fire alarm went off in early hours. No staff on site and no emergency contact details readily available once we had evacuated. No apology when checking out and we weren’t asked if we’d had a good stay. Excellent location.”

”Beds are huge and the staff are jolly and helpful providing excellent service. Communal lounge, dining room and grounds all kept really nice.
Spa is more functional than luxurious but good for the price.
Only negatives were:
- both me and my friends eggs at breakfast tasted very vinegar-y.
- Each time the extractor fan was on in my room it was drawing in bad smells eg sewage and cabbage cooking smells.
However overall we really enjoyed our stay and are grateful to the staff for making it...

”Highly recommend this hotel.
You will not be disappointed.
Its worth the slight inconvenience of having to park in one of the 3 or 4 nearby car parks which are run by bandits.”
