The property is located a short drive from downtown Paso, but far enough out that you are surrounded by wine country. If you don't think you're out far enough, just look up at the night sky and check out the stars. Living in L.A., I miss that. The gated property is nice and make you feel secure, along w/where the property is located. The house is nice. Smaller two bedroom, but spacious enough if only 4 or 5 are staying there. Nicely appointed. No need to sign into your Netflix. It was already open to watch, which other properties don't do.
The outside of the pool is beautiful. We went during December, so we didn't use the pool. We did, however, use the fireplace. It was BIG, so we were able to make a decent fire there with a nice draw. Which leads me to my first "con." I've stayed at properties before with wood fireplaces and firewood was available use. I thought that would be the case here, but it wasn't. We all agreed that was not what we expected. Small thing but worth mentioning.
I met Harry and he was very personable. He actually invited us in his house for some wine, which I thought was admirable. (declined due to impending dinner reservations). This leads me to my biggest "con" with this property.
There are two houses on the property. They are positioned in somewhat of a "V" set up, with each house forming one leg of the "V." Understand that this "V" is wide, like a 90 degree "V." Okay, enough geometry. The problem is that you live on one leg of the V and Hari and his family live on the other leg of the V (along w/a beautiful St. Bernard). The back of both houses face the inner sides of the V, which means it faces the pool. The pool spans the top of the V, with both houses looking out toward it. This is a little unnerving for me since, if I was visiting in the summer time, I wouldn't want anyone in the other house watching us. Now, I will tell you that Hari's house had their blinds facing the pool area shut the whole time, but one day I walked out to the pool area and there, as big as a pimple on teenager's nose, was a camera facing the pool area. OUCH! Nope! Would not book this place if I came here for a summer pool hang out. Just the though of you possibly being looked at is unnerving. You may not care.
One last "con" is that I specifically booked this place to use the hot tub. The hot tub was lukewarm. None of us used it. It was set at as I call, "summer temp", warm, but not hot.
