Quintessential California beach House!

Four adults and two children under 10 had a blast at this great beach house located steps away from the beach in Santa Cruz area. Very convenient very laid-back and very fun. Flew kites, boggie boarded, grilled out, and had many seal and otter sightings. Sunsets and wine on roof deck. Great stay and owners touched base to be sure all was good!

Rented this charming beach cottage for my nephew’s graduation. It was perfect. Hosted 2 dinners at the home and everyone loved the house. The home is bigger than it appears with a large living room and a large family room. Plus it has an incredible roof top deck. The location was also ideal being only a house or two away from the beach.

Family Easter getaway

We enjoyed the close proximity and access to the beach, but hanging out on the deck was the highlight. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The mermaid counting challenge was a fun little activity for the girls. The Chardonnay was a nice surprise. Thank you.

Wonderful Beach House

Hidden gem in Santa Cruz

Our stay at La Sirena was wonderful. It’s a great property- quaint and vintage with the right updates to make it livable for a whole family. The location is amazing - it’s clearly a favorite access point for local surfers and beachcombers. It was also central for a. Umber of day trips to Monterey, Carmel, and San Jose. There was a local power outage during our stay, and the owners were super communicative throughout. The only thing that would have made the stay in A+ plus would be a few minor updates to finicky toilet handles, and a slow water heater. Otherwise, well worth the trip!

Fabulous place and location

From the street it's an adorable Victorian. Inside, a large lovely home with so many beautiful decorations, especially the wooded mermaids. Then you go up to the top deck and Wow, just Wow! The beautiful beach almost feels like a private club, with only a few tourists and mostly locals. We had a wonderful time.

Great ocean views. Did not like climbing up and down the wooden stairs to get to the beach. In the listing it appears that the beach is steps away but it really was not.

Peace & Tranquility at the Beach

La Sirena provided just the answer to such a crazy world! Growing up in Santa Cruz was a blessing though I had moved away in 1990. Rarely visiting in the years since we had a large family gathering to attend & I wanted my family to experience the ocean way of life I grew up with, La Sirena provided it. The song of the waves does wonders for your heart & soul. Waking up for coffee & reading a book sitting in a chair watching the ocean never gets old. oh, & if you like mermaids this is your place! Nautical decor & old fashioned beach cottage charm, all within steps of the sand.

Family & Friends

This place was amazing! It is located near the beach which is a close 30 second walk. The views are unbeatable from the top deck. It was the perfect place for two families with kids ages 5 to 9 years old. There was plenty of room for all! Check in process was super easy and parking in front of the house was perfect for our two vehicles. We highly recommend and will stay again!

Peaceful and relexing

The house has lots of personality and the kitchen is modern and well stocked. The homeowners are especially responsive and kind in the communication. We enjoyed proximity to the beach which was fun for surfing and boogie boarding and the walk to Pleasure Point for good, casual food was fun and easy. I would highly recommend this listing.

Old friends retreat

Old Victorian home is charming and cozy. Open all the blinds on arrival for a spectacular view of the ocean. The upper deck was amazing, except for the scary circular staircase. The updated kitchen is well done. Nice dishwasher. Owner, Julie was very helpful and accommodating. An excellent host!

A lovely home in an amazing location!

We had a lovely long weekend at La Sirena. I would definitely stay again and highly recommend this really lovely property with lovely hosts! Hearing the ocean waves as we walked up to this adorable victorian was a magical start to our trip. Upon entering, the high ceilings make the room feel spacious while still being cozy, and the back room and kitchen are bright with a view of the ocean. The real star is the rooftop deck, which is up a, rusty, but still functional spiral staircase. We spent all the time we could up there with that view!‹‹ The hosts were helpful and responsive. I felt confident leading up to our visit and they were great during our stay as well. They even put up with my mom texting them! I do want to share some opportunities, which I'm confident the host will address, if they haven't already. There's an added weatherstripping on the front door that is sharp and very close to the handle. Unfortunately, a couple of us did cut/scrape our hands when trying to open the door. We also noticed that there was a mold looking substance on the fridge water spout and hard water buildup on the kitchen sink faucet. We notified the host and opted to buy some water bottles, they were very apologetic and offered to pay for them. A couple other small things like socks getting a bit dirty walking around inside and that the couches should probably be replaced soon, nothing that I would consider a dealbreaker. Overall an amazing stay and great hosts. Don't miss out!

The location was perfect!

Amazing stay, steps from the beach! It was the perfect size and set up for our two families. It was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the upper deck was perfect for morning coffee. Thank you so much!

Location! Location! Location!

The extremely clean adorable home was the setting for the perfect summer vacation. The home had everything that you need for a great beach vacation. However, the location gave it a a 5 star rating. Steps from the beach, we enjoyed watching seals, a few sea lions and so
 many birds flying over the ocean. The harbor, Santa Cruz Boardwalk, Capitola Village and downtown Santa Cruz were short drives from the home. Parking was NOT a problem for our Sprinter van or our daughter’s car. The only issue would be if you have mobility issues because there is a staircase to the beach and to the absolutely amazing rooftop deck.

Grandkids Summer Vacation with Grandpa & Grandma

Excellent location close to one of the best beaches. We did have to drive to most destinations we wanted to visit, but that was OK. Very helpful and friendly owners aiming to please any of our needs. Thanks for the wonderful stay.

Great house steps from the beach

We love the mermaid house! This was our second trip - the location is amazing. The only suggestion we have is to add a few larger cooking pots and pans - we managed but would have been easier with a few larger ones. Thanks for everything!
