We at Casa de Mara want you to feel comfortable and well cared for throughout your stay. The host is available to answer questions, provide recommendations, and address any issues that may arise.

When possible, our groundskeeper or property manager will meet you upon arrival, show you around the property, and help you get settled. If an in-person welcome is not possible, you will receive a unique personal door code before arrival, allowing you to access the property independently.

During your stay, we remain available by message or phone should you need assistance. Our goal is to provide privacy when you want it and support whenever you need it.

Guests have exclusive access to the entire Casa de Mara property and home during their stay, including all bedrooms, bathrooms, living areas, kitchen, terrace, private swimming pool, BBQ area, tropical gardens, river-view lookout, and other guest-accessible outdoor spaces.

Bedroom Use: Guests are welcome to use the bedrooms that best suit their needs. For smaller reservations, we kindly ask guests to use only the bedrooms they need, helping us prepare the home efficiently for each stay.

ℹ️ IMPORTANT TO KNOW ℹ️

• Mountain Access: The final approximately 7 minutes of the drive are on an unpaved mountain road that can be bumpy, particularly after rain. A 4x4 is not required, but a vehicle with reasonable ground clearance is recommended.

• Accessibility: The property has stairs and uneven outdoor pathways due to its natural mountain setting. Casa de Mara is not wheelchair accessible and may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.

• Climate: The villa benefits from cool mountain breezes and natural ventilation. Air conditioning is available in the master bedroom and indoor sunroom, while fans are provided throughout the home.

• Electricity: A solar backup system automatically activates during local power outages, helping keep essential services running. During an outage, air conditioners cannot be operated simultaneously on solar backup power.

• Water: A professionally installed whole-home water filtration system provides filtered water throughout the villa.

• Nature & Wildlife: Casa de Mara is surrounded by tropical gardens and the Sierra Nevada rainforest. Guests may see birds, butterflies, geckos, insects, and other native wildlife. This is a genuine mountain environment, so keeping doors and windows closed when not in use is recommended.

• Pets: Well-behaved dogs under 35 lbs (maximum two per stay) are welcome with prior approval. A $30 USD per dog, per night pet fee applies. Dogs must be supervised and are not permitted in the swimming pool.

• Groundskeeper: A groundskeeper may access the property Monday through Saturday, excluding holidays, for routine pool and garden maintenance. Your privacy is always respected, and the property remains exclusively yours during your stay.

• Optional Assistance: When available, grocery or supply runs may be arranged directly with the groundskeeper for an additional fee.

🚗 Transportation 🚗

Casa de Mara is located in La Tigrera, approximately 10–15 minutes from Minca and 20–25 minutes from Santa Marta by car. A vehicle is convenient for exploring the area, but a 4x4 is not necessary to reach Casa de Mara.

• Access by Car: The final approximately 7 minutes to Casa de Mara are on an unpaved mountain road that can be bumpy in places, particularly after rain. A vehicle with reasonable ground clearance is recommended. We have personally driven a Renault Kardian to the property without any issues.

• Transportation Assistance: With advance notice, we can help guests arrange private transportation to and from Casa de Mara, including airport transfers and transportation from Santa Marta or Minca.

• Rental Cars: Rental cars are available in Santa Marta and at Simón Bolívar International Airport. Guests who plan to explore the surrounding area may find having a vehicle convenient.

• Local Transportation: Taxis and other local transportation options are available in the Minca and Santa Marta areas.

• Airport Transfers: We recommend arranging airport transportation in advance, particularly for late arrivals or guests traveling with luggage.
