Ryokanit – Shutoken

”Hieno paikka, josta varsinkin hotellin katon näkymä Fuji vuorelle on mahtava. Kaiseki illallinen tarjoiltiin omaan erilliseen tilaan ja meille kerrottiin sopivasti lisää ruoasta ja kuinka syödä sitä. Tarjoilija piti selvästi huolta, että ehdimme illan ilmaiseen rumpuesitykseen. Hotelli tarjoaa kuljetuksen lähimmälle juna-asemalle (Fujisan). Tulimme aikaisin ja hotellilla ei ollut lounasta tarjolla, joten siitä pieni miinus.”

”I was really looking forward to this trip to Nishiyama Onsen. The hot water springs were amazing the staff not so accommodating. Lots of bowing and thank yous but no real assistance. We requested soy sauce with our appetizer and they said no and wouldn't bring it. Check in is 3PM and check out is 10 AM. It's a rather expensive undertaking considering that the property is quite remote. I really wanted to stay there because of the history, the oldest continuously inhabited hotel in the world....

”Great staff and very nice place overall, especially the onsen was great. But the food was bad. And there’s nowhere else to eat at this location after 16.00 afaik. If you go here, bring your own food. You’re better off with 7-eleven snacks than with the overpriced tiny TV meals that the “restaurant” offers. Also the room had no working ac. Temperature was fine but humidity was 100. Pricing was not that transparent either, our +1 additional guest cost us more than the room itself but hotels...
