All we needed was a decent place to sleep before continuing our drive in the morning, but unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. As soon as we opened the room door, we noticed the suite door did not close properly. There were visible gaps around the door and the deadbolt would not latch securely. The room also had a smoky, musty smell upon entering, although it appeared clean at first...

”Room a bit smelly! Had to sleep with the window opened. Breakfast is quite controlled. Front desk will issue a voucher early in the morning and there 1-2 guys custodian who enters the room. No eggs, but everything else was there. Good oatmeal!”

”This is a cute boutique hotel. My spouse and myself used to work for the US Court System, so we just had to stay here. That being said, it is very difficult and cumbersome to get your luggage into the hotel - there is no ramp or elevator into the building. There are only stairs into the property - definitely not for special needs people. There are also basically no amenities, there is a gym (which we did not use) and a drink vending machine, that is it besides breakfast. I can understand this is...

”Good news first- The food and the restaurant were good. The bartender- she was very good. The front desk guy looked overwhelmed and did the best he could. He gets a thumbs up. Hot tub nice and big. Bad- the area outside- sketchy- although the hotel had the foresight to hire a security guard- saw deals going down just outside his view in the parking lot. Found a bug in my room. Sheets were clean but obviously reused- wine stains. Sticky food residue on carpet beside the bed. Thermostat did not...

”Air handling unit in room did not work, water in sink does not drain, no Kleenex, no elevator”

”The bed was comfortable. The property and our room specifically needs updating, repairs and maintenance. Best part was that the hotel was very close to Hoito, the Finnish pancake place inside the Goods&Co market, which is the nicest part of downtown Thunder Bay.”
