The owners made you feel right at home. The history and nostalgia of this property was amazing and the owners are doing a great job at updating but holding onto history. The beds were comfy, and shower rooms were nice done and updated.

Colorado Dream Hotel
Absolutely loved this hotel! We stayed in room 11 (private rm with our own bathroom). Loved that the room had a record player for entertainment and books galore! We also had a beautiful view of the mountains from our bedroom window. There’s a tv in the common area for those that want it, but this property is so charming there’s no need to sit around and watch tv. Close enough in town to get out and walk around to places you need to go. I hope to return someday if just to stay here!

Wonderful owner who has restored this property, a lot of love and attention to detail. So many places to relax and visit read play games or help yourself to the communal kitchen. Comfortable bed, amazing views, something to investigate in every room or wall. We will definitely stay here again, Daniel is prompt and courteous to request and needs. Thank you for a great stay.

Daniel and everything about the place was awesome. What a great find on a last minute booking when weather turned from bad to worse. Thank you Daniel for such a great time that my daughter and I will talk about for a long time.

What a gem! We got surprised by bad weather for camping and booked last minute stay at the Avalon and could not be more impressed! the work the owner did to renovate -and yet keep the charm and special parts of the building from 1904 - is amazing! Lots of cool amenities, great style and nice shared area downstairs to cook, relax by the fire and meet other guest. The extra starts go to Daniel, the owner, for making the offer and effort to ship here to denver a couple of things I've left at the hotel by mistake - than you so much! We for sure intend to go back!

I was really impressed by this restored boarding house. Everywhere you look there is something interesting to see. I stayed in one of the hostel rooms and my bed was comfortable, the shared restroom was beautiful and clean and my bunk bed was very comfortable. I want to come back and spend more time here.

The Avon is an amazing historic building and our stay was great. The hosts were friendly and helpful. One wors of warning, the building did not appear very handicap accessable.

Hotel with Character
This is a hotel with character. Start with a historic structure and updates that retain the historic character but make things functional. I really liked the laid back vibe of the place, from the 60's & 70's music playing in the lobby to the retention of much original wood throughout. There are collections of old typewriters, adding machines, books and other items that enhance the theme. I stayed in a hostel room which was clean with a good mattress and bedding. The bath across the hall was also clean and functional with fixtures updated to the present. This is not the Ritz; there is for example, no air conditioning, but there are a number of fans and the highs in Silverton (9,300') were manageable in August. As a guest, I had access to a commercial type kitchen, much refrigeration space and free coffee or tea or hot chocolate. The "hang around" spaces are pleasant. The lobby mentioned above and the 3rd floor deck are great places to read, chat or just hang out. From the deck, you get a view of much of the town and the mountains beyond.

Built in 1904 the Avon is comfortable, roomy with a lot of charm. Host makes kitchen available for cooking. Great view of the mountains and easy walking to historic district.

I stayed in one of the shared rooms and it was a great experience. The shared bathroom was very clean. There were multiple common areas to hang out in during the day/evening. The access to the kitchen/microwave was an added bonus. The staff was helpful and kind. I absolutely loved my stay and highly recommend the Avon.

This old hotel is being rehabbed and our room was very nice with a private bath and queen bed. Things are a bit different here. The place is a hostel as well as a hotel so a variety of guests from back packers sharing a room with travelers from europe to professionals who like the funky decor, open lobby area with a bar and a commercial like kitchen than guests can use.

Hidden Hostel Gem
I was hesitant to pay so much for a hostel (usually pay under $45) but once I checked in I understood the cost. It felt like a boutique hostel. There were so many unique, cozy, interesting touches. It truly felt like an experience.

It was a house made into a hotel built in 1904. Great place with many antiques. The whole historical town was walkable.

Unique hôtel for a unique expérience
Unique place to stay. You feel like you’re back in time of the gold miners. Room was small but there are several common areas to relax (living rooms, dining room, library). Shared Bathrooms were beautiful. However, our bed (room 6) was not very comfortable. The mattress is probably due for a replacement because we were sinking in the middle. Overall, great place to stay for one night.

My stay at The Avon was a unique experience that I will never forget. The ability to cook your own food in the kitchen, the relax atmosphere of everyone in the morning meeting up downstairs to get coffee and find out where everyone is from and what there plans are is a social gathering that's unique at The Avon. The room was cozy and showers and restrooms were always clean with fresh towels. I will be looking at The Avon next year when we go up to Ski winter of 2023. Thank you Dan and Patrick.

Excellent & unique
We loved our stay at The Avon! Wished we would have been able to stay longer than one night. The hotel is an old historic building that’s been restored. The rooms and bathrooms have been nicely remodeled. There was not a TV in our room but we hung out downstairs in the “lobby” area with other guest around the wood fire place. My husband and I enjoyed board and card games that were provided. Although we went to a local restaurant, the was a full kitchen available for use at the hotel! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
