License number: 2025-STR-1040.This adorable cabin has been completely remodeled on the inside and out and is less than 20 miles from the Wolf Creek Ski area and surrounded by thousands of acres of national forest, this is a true gem! Inside, the all-wood interior, comfortable furniture, and lots of western cowboy themes. The homeowners are related to Charles Goodnight, whose incredible story was the basis for the Lonesome Dove Saga and the pride and heritage of this western favorite are apparent in every corner of this rustic home. The first bedroom has a king-size bed and the second room has two double beds. You'll have a private washer/dryer available to take care of everyone's dirty laundry, so you can afford to pack light for your trip, and the free WiFi makes researching a new recipe quick and easy. Good thing too, because the full kitchen is well-equipped with stainless steel appliances, beautiful cookware, and ample counter space to make tonight's home-cooked meal a joy to prepare. Serve your guests at the wood dining table while the dishwasher knocks out the dirty dishes. The furnished patio will make an evening of stargazing a delightful experience.

Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

We were conveniently located near many mountain attractions. Creede and Pagosa Springs were close. Not many restaurant options in South Fork.

Great place and Great Location

It was a perfect place eventhough our trip was effected by a monumental winter storm. I cannot imagine being forced to stay inside on vacation pleasant place.

Lonesome Dove in South Fork

Loved the cabin and decor. The cabin sleeps 4 but the coffee machine brews 1 cup at a time. The bathroom sink looks cool and in style, but impractical once you brush your teeth since it does not drain properly.

The cabin was perfect and close to everything in South Fork since we went skiing. The only downside was we couldn't get the TV to operate .

nice little house

Small but mighty. Definitely no more than 4 people unless they're kids . Worked great as we stayed there while working. Master bed is very firm if you like it that way. The keyless entry did not work but luckily the key access box did.

Winter Ski Fun

The property was beautiful and very neat / clean, WiFi excellent. The master bed was comfortable but no one slept in the upstairs area so we cannot comment on those beds. This cabin is isolated and right off a busy highway; some large truck noise could be heard during the night so if you are a light sleeper this might be a concern. The only bathroom is located off the master bedroom. If you are traveling with casual friends this might something to think about prior to renting. We loved the location to/from the slopes as well as the convenience to restaurants and town. We would stay here again.

Return to Lonesome Dove in South Fork Colorado

Very clean. Trash disposal isn't very clear if you're not from the area. Beds were super hard. Master room ceiling fan although nice was making ticking noise which kept us up throughout night. Something was beeping in bathroom didn't know how to reset purifier or whatever was on the wall but it was blinking when we got there which I thought was normal. Didn't remember hearing this the last two times we stayed there.

Cute little place to stay

Cabin was nice and clean, a nice touch of southern charm. Tight quarters and my husband had to duck in certain spots but the Goodnight family history was nice to learn. As first timers to Colorado, we did not know air conditioning is a given. My only suggestion would be to invest in new patio chairs. There is one, on its last leg - literally. Lol. Otherwise great place, would recommend!

Upgrade door lock and shower heads

Excellent property, front door lock digital system was very unreliable, we left the door unlocked each day as we could not know if the lock would let us back in. Both bathroom shower heads are broken and gave a pitiful shower. Fix these issues before renting again.

Previous guest may have been a Bigfoot

Discovered a lot of human hair, on everything. We had to wash the sheets and pillowcases on arrival. Pretty disappointed that we were expected to drive our own trash into town after our stay. We saw the cleaning crew arrive after our check out and they spent no more than 45 minutes at the place. The property management company texted us about 10 separate time before, during, and after our stay. Pretty excessive. Good location & and the place is cute. But would have been much cheaper and probably a better experience to stay at a hotel.

2nd Time we used this location

This place is perfect for my boys and me to go have a fun weekend getaway. We love the house as it's plenty of room for us and has everything we need. The one item you need to think about it that the driveway is not very accommodating if you have snow. We had a 4 wheel drive vehicle but we had issues getting in and out due to the snow drifts. We had to spend time shoveling in the am and then when we returned do it again. It's not due to new snow, it's due to wind and drifts. Hopefully they can come up with a solution to this.
