To start with the staff on the phone while trying to set up an early check-in we’re inconsistent and unhelpful. Then we ended up checking in after the wedding about 9pm on Saturday, and were met with a rude (sketchy was one adjective my wife used) staff member “greeting” us at the desk. After multiple times asking him to repeat himself because he was so soft spoken he antagonized with a loud “how’s this, can you hear me now?” That’s when I lost my temper and told him “listen a— hole, I wear hearing aids and have trouble hearing” instead recognizing his derogatory attitude, and apologizing, he was offended with my use of a cuss word and continued escalating the situation.
After a little heated back and forth, my wife calmed me down and we chose to ignore his continued attitude and finished the check-in.
We had just come from a wedding where I had been drinking and having a great time, and arrived in good spirits, but having this sort of personality at the front desk is an extreme failure on the behalf of the Holiday Inn organization.
I hope this event is documented in this employees file.
All in all, this experience had reaffirmed my preference to Marriott lodging.
