Forgotten pearl of Tanger
A weekend trip to amazing Morocco. I chose the hotel based on the history and the location. The history aspect is there in full. Unfortunately this beautiful building is not maintained as it should. Its in many ways outdated and many things just don't work (electricity, aircondition etc). However, if one doesn't care the facilities but only needs a place to sleep, this a good option. The location of the hotel is perfect, just next to Medina ( the old city). The staff of the hotel is remarkable friendly and caring. Despite all the lacks and flaws I recommend this hotel to couples who are interested on history and the feeling of the real Tanger.

Siisti hotelli, upeat maisemat ja hyvä aamiainen. Sisustus vuosien takaa ja varustelutaso heikohko. Ystävällinen ja avulias henkilökunta. Huono äänieristys. Hotelli on ihan Medinan reunalla, nähtävyyksille lyhyt matka.

Historiallinen hotelli
Kaikin tavoin erinomainen hotelli,ystävällinen palvelu, upeasti kunnostetut yleiset tilat, hienot näkymät parvekkeelta merelle, loistava sijainti, tyylikäs huone, historiallinen hotelli, jossa monet kuuluisuudet ovat yöpyneet.

A colonial gem in the old town. I stayed twice, the first time in a large room, with beautiful furniture and the second room more of a modern feel. Both rooms were spotless. The breakfast was amazing. A huge variety of options for veggie and non vegetarian and you can have this on the terrace overlooking the harbour. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

What an amazing place. Where Winston Churchill also stayed and am sure it hasn't changed much. Fantastic service, a very big room and a quiet nights sleep a few steps fron the Medina. The breakfast buffet was also fantastic with a huge array of cooked and continental options.

This property is a fort built in 1800s, its unique and beautifull with great interiors, overlooking the city and the ferry terminal. Management is very bad, we had booked a room for 3,the beds were like you see in a motel, hair on the pillows, stains on towels,I went and complained about the room. They moved us into another room with same issues, stains on bedsheets hair on pillows,I had to go and complain again and get them change the sheets in front of me.The bedsheets,pillowcovers and towels also look like they were from the 1800s, I will never go back to this hotel. Expedia should give me a free 2 day stay as I had to suffer this situation.This is an insult to us,after booking through expedia and paying in canadian dollars. They do not have a lift, you have to climb about 50-60 stairs to get to the hotel and then another 20 stairs to get to your room if you are on the first floor.Climbing 2-3 times a day can get you exhausted.

Lovely older property. Very walkable area with the Medina right there. Only issue was that we could hear our neighbors in the other rooms and it was noisy outside in the late pm and early am but i would stay here again. Very clean and staff is accomodating and breakfast was good.

Struttura esternamente e per posizione meravigliosa. Camera assegnata terribile: umidità sulle pareti, abbiamo spostato il letto dei ragazzi per non farli dormire attaccati alla parete umida e c’erano insetti morti. Tanta polvere, accessori del bagno rotti. La cosa peggiore è stata la puzza nella stanza dovuta all’umidità. Le camere dei nostri amici non erano meglio. Per fortuna siamo stati solo una notte. Un vero peccato perché ha grandi potenzialità

This is a terrific, beautiful old hotel. My second stay here. The staff were very helpful. The small street up to the hotel was closed due to some building renovations, so getting a taxi was a little inconvenient.

Nos dieron una habitación con 2 camas y somos una pareja. Pero por lo menos tenía aire acondicionado. El personal muy amable. No pudimos comer a la noche en el hotel porque falto el cocinero. Tuvimos que buscar otro lugar. Por la tarde el hotel solo tiene que ara tomar tragos o café pero nada de para comer. Pero la pasamos muy bien. Ahhh no tiene ascensor y Renés que subir y bajar 3 o 4 pisos por escalera.

Location is great, but stuff is incredibly sneaky. when we asked for a taxi to Tanger med for the next morning, the wana be concierge gave me a price of 450 dirham (45€), when I told him that we only paid 250dirham on our way to Tanger , he said no not from Tanger to the port of tanger med. When I asked the security guard what the usual price is to the port of Tanger med the guard told me max. 200 dirham and that the hotel even has taxi companies working together with them . The next early morning that concierge came to us and offered us a taxi for 300 Dirham, because I was about to take a taxi out of the hotel . My complain is not about the money, 45€ is not the world , but about that specific person , that tries to rip you off . I mean the hotel is already not the best , no elevators, old, stinky and on top you have someone trying to rip you off. It really gives a bad taste to you vacation. We stayed there from the 9-11th of September. This incident happened in the night of the 10th September. I just want to make the management of that hotel aware , what sidelines your stuff are having in that hotel.

Es un hotel icónico, histórico, de muy alto interés cultural, pero sólo abajo (recepción, salón, salas de te, mobiliario). Las habitaciones se corresponden a una pensión de carretera. Mobiliario bàsico y feo, baño antiquísimo, detalles pésimos (sale agua del vater al suelo, grifos oxidados, ventanas que no encajan etc) Es una pena porque se trata de un Hotel Museo y las habitaciones son un desastre. Por favor, reformad de una vez las instalaciones.

Location location location
An honest review of our recent stay. First look, we were disappointed as hotel is way dated , built in 1870 and seems nothing much changed since then. There are pluses and minuses ,here are few in our opinion: Pros : - Right at the edge of the port and close to main road, near old madina and Kasbah. - Kasbah museum is not more than 5 mins walk. Old Madina 10 mins. - Open top tour bus starts and ends right in front of hotel - Excellent staff , they work really hard to keep hotel clean and immaculate - Our room was spacious with a window looking over sea and streets. - Beautiful work on wall and ceiling, craftsmanship on display on every corner of this hotel. - There are two rooms in lobby with old dated seating, I find it fascinating. - Hotel terrace overlooking port , on a clear day you can see Spanish coastal line. - Our room has an air conditioner , not the best but it was working and keep our room cool in hot weather. - Delicious breakfast - Free toiletries Cons: - .There is no road access to hotel. Taxi will drop you at the edge of the hotel on main road. you have to walk all the way up to the reception. -Stairs , and too many of them Hotel has no lift , each floor has roughly 24 steps. If you are on 3rd floor like us , you will be climbing 72 steps each time. - no room service - dated wardrobe , we didn’t use them. They were actually were falling apart - no kettle and iron in room - tv never worked - no lamp in room

I accidentally put in the wrong date which was more than a month away, through Expedia. I contacted Expedia minutes later, they made several attempts to contact the hotel but the hotel would not respond.
