”Went to check in and the place smelled terrible and was so run down, I chose not to stay. It did not feel safe. I asked for a refund from Expedia, but the property manager denied it. Expedia gave me one key credit, which was nice, and I went elsewhere.”

”Cost of the stay was on par with the condition of the room. Was a somewhat strong mildew odor. Tolerable but not pleasant. Mattress was hard as steel. Outdated furniture but it served its purpose. Air conditioner struggled to maintain cool room temp but it worked. Had to set thermostat on 65 to maintain about 71-72 degrees. Owner was extremely nice and accommodating. Nighttime was peaceful with nice rocking chairs to sit in just outside the room. Would I stay there again? Maybe, but not likely...

”Pilot Mountain Glamping Resort was a great weekend retreat for my fiancé’s birthday. Great location. We hiked at Hanging Rock State Park. We really enjoyed the deck with the Blackstone Griddle and fire pit. We had pancakes and bacon off the griddle for breakfast one morning, and hotdogs for dinner one night. S’mores later that evening over the fire pit topped off a great day. Jack was responsive to the only issue we raised and it was quickly resolved.”

”Nice clean room. The private balcony had a great view and was really cool in the early morning but it was too hot to use the rest of the day while we were there...temps in the 90's. We love this area and had previously stayed at The Evening Shade a few times and next door at Carters Lodge. We were really sad that one is gone and the other boarded up. So much love has gone into restoring this home. While stepping back in time, you still enjoy modern amenities, luxurious bedding, snacks, and beverages.”

”This property is in a fantastic location! Less than 15 minutes to several different cute mountain towns. The property is nice but the single lane road throughout the property is anxiety inducing and should probably be disclosed in the details. Although set up quite strangely with no sink or counter space in the bathroom, the room was very nice. The ceiling fan was another story. My husband and I agreed that we have never heard a ceiling fan make so many different, strange, loud noises. And there...

”Planned a short getaway to hike Mount Mitchell and this place could not have been more perfectly located to the trailhead. The Lodge is newly built, and ground are impeccably well maintained. The staff was super helpful. They even came by to drop off a lighter so the firepit could be put to use. They have a common use area with a ktichen and grills that can be utilized which is an added bonus as I don’t recall reading about all they had available to make the stay above and beyond expectations....

”Room was very nice, shower was excellent. There was a little miscommunication on the checking procedure, but that was corrected. The food at the restaurant was excellent as well. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.”
