Beautiful, quiet, spacious and fun
My wife and I, and our kids really enjoyed this quiet and rural farm- plenty of space for the kids to roam, they loved collecting eggs from the chickens, feeding the pig and brushing the horses. Small pond is great for taking very young ones canoeing.

Love this place.
Such a special place to spend time, away from the hustle and bustle. It’s close enough to a couple of towns that you can venture out easily, but I always feel totally relaxed and at peace when I’m here. By no means us it a luxury vacation, but that’s the point. Surrounded by the wonderful animals, creek, mountains, etc it is truly amazing.

Best place to stay EVER!!!!
We could not have asked for a better place to stay. We only stayed a short, weekend stay but we had a blast. We were there in mid October and the fall colors were absolutely beautiful. The house was perfect. My wife absolutely loved it. She said it reminded her of her aunts house in Kentucky. The whole farm is wonderful. We really enjoyed hearing the roosters crow each morning and petting the horses, donkey and best of all was meeting "Piper" their dog. Piper went along on one our hikes up the mountain. If we could give it a 10 star rating we would. We are defiantly going back. If you want to experience the best in mountain living on a fantastic real live farm then you need to book this place for your next vacation. You won't regret it.

"Best vacation EVER"
This was the quote i got from both my daughters. All the comforts of home, literally in the middle of nowhere. The wifi was excellent. We had everything we needed. Short drive to town and all necessities. The fire pit was used on our last night for smores. I give the farmhouse 5/5 stars, and would definitely recommend it to anyone going to an App St game!

Best mountain house ever!
Our family of six truly loved our stay at the Old Farmhouse! The house was clean and comfortable as well as filled with interesting books (a complete set of Shakespeare's plays!) and toys for the children. It was an old house, but everything worked well. The one bathroom was gigantic, and we did not have a problem sharing it. While the attic had a very low ceiling, it had several windows and was perfect for the children. Farmer Walton was a charming and interesting host and the entire family (children, teenagers, and adults) enjoyed feeding the animals, finding eggs, hanging out with Piper (the dog) and Valentine (the turkey) on the deck, exploring the fairy trail, and hiking the many other trails. My older kids and husband even learned how to build a fence! The location was very convenient as well; it was only 20-30 minutes to Boone and 5-10 minutes to Todd, a very small town, but home to a great outfitter for canoeing/kayaking on the New River. Everyone was sad to leave, and we are definitely hoping to stay here again!

Most beautiful place.
A year later all the kids still talk about this place. Just something magical about sitting on the front porch and being greeted by a peacock. Or watching the rabbits hop around. My kids favorite part was probably playing in the creek. Owner was absolutely fantastic and let us feed all the animals. They let the kids help with chores. Its an experience, i think they'll always have.

Remote Todd NC Getaway
The property is a great getaway to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the world. There is tons of trails to hike with kids and beautiful views of the mountains and creeks. The property owners are very accommodating. They were gracious with my 4 crazy kids while feeding the animals. Thats a job in itself! :) We will be back.

A magical getaway
My family (my wife and I, my daughter and her young children) had a wonderful time. It was like being conveyed to another time. Honestly the whole experience was beyond words. We particularly enjoyed the long walks in the "enchanted" forest with Piper (the friendly collie), relaxing on the porch swing, and breathing the clean fresh mountain air. There was something for everyone to do or to just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet on the front porch swing. The owners were amazing and the house was spacious and inviting. I can't wait to go back!

Our annual family refuge
This was our 3rd trip back to the farm and as always, we loved every minute of it. We had 8 people in the house, 4 adults and 4 kids and it fit us all. The kids spent every minute they could on the farm and we enjoyed relaxing around the property. The house has everything you may need, otherwise Boone is close enough to get any additional supplies.

Super Willet Ponds Farm Stay
We were seeking an enriching 'farm experience' to share with our grandchildren. Willet Ponds Farm was everything its website promised. Our grandchildren had a wonderful time interacting with a large variety of animals. Their up-close experiences were priceless. Betty and Walton were great hosts and very patient with the kids.

A restful haven
My daughter and I spent three wonderful days at the Farm house. Waking up to this beautiful natural scenery was a gift, horses grazing in the field, peacocks and chickens in the yard and the best dog just waiting to greet you. What a glorious way to have your morning coffee sitting on the porch swing with the sun shining and taking in all that beauty. And If that wasn't enough, there is a sparkling, clear stream that runs past the farmhouse. The property has many hiking trails as well as its own amazing waterfall. As a guest, you are invited to participate in the feeding of the chickens and any other animal just walking in the vicinity (pot-belly pig, peacocks, and a duck). The setting offers so much that you would not really need to leave, but if you do venture out there are numerous opportunities for hiking, biking and rafting nearby. We would love to return to this little bit of paradise.

WONDERFUL FARM EXPERIENCE
Betty and Walton are wonderful hosts. They are so gracious and kind. Their farm house was perfect for our family of eight. Everything we needed was there. There were plenty of spaces for everyone to spread out and enjoy. The farm itself is MAGNIFICENT! Betty and Walton are so gracious to share it. Walton is so good with the kids, including them and encouraging them with activities around the farm. Our grandkids did not want to leave. Our whole family looks forward to going back to the farm. Great for kids
We stayed at the farm to celebrate my daughter’s third birthday. It was a perfect way to celebrate. We helped feed the animals, walked the fairy trail, took a hike, and checked out an old outhouse :) The house was full of toys and had everything we needed. The hosts were very responsive and accommodating. I highly recommend this stay if you are looking for a sweet interactive experience.

Amazing escape
Our long weekend at willets pond was wonderful. Me plus my 3 kids (16,14 and 10) loved our time at this beautiful retreat. It was so fun to be able to spend time w the animals- all just outside our door. Plenty of trails by the property to explore. Lovely covered porch. Hosts struck just the right balance of being avail, informative and engaging and giving your family space and privacy. We have already recommended this spot to many and will definitely go back.

Absolutely Incredible Experience For The Whole Family
We had the most amazing experience at the farm. We stayed in the Old Farmhouse. Walton and Betty were incredible hosts. We arrived in the late afternoon. The house was very welcoming as bd very clean. The house had 4 bedrooms which was the perfect set up for us. We had a total of four adults and three children. The first night we went sledding on the property. There were three sleds that are provided and we went sledding and had a blast. The next day we were able to feed the animals and the kids loved it. There were chickens, ducks, turkeys, a loving pig and the most beautiful peacocks you’ve ever seen. The kids also got to play with the horses and rabbits. We would absolutely recommend staying here. It’s a great experience that can be shared by the entire family. The kids also went hiking several times and played in the Ferry Forest. They also hiked to the top of the mountain. We can’t thank Walton and Betty enough. They were extremely helpful and accommodating. We came the week between Christmas and New Years and celebrated New Years at the farm.

Perfect Farm Stay
What a charming place to stay! We had our two kids (ages 4 and 7) with us and they loved the farm animals - helping to feed the chickens, pet the pig, and brush the donkey. We loved hiking around the property. The home is about 20-30 minutes away from most shopping/restaurants. Loved having a full kitchen so we could eat breakfast before heading out to explore and being able to make dinner at home if we didn’t feel like going out to eat. Great stay!

Fall beauty!
Our stay at the old farmhouse was just what we needed🙂. Fall colors were great. We could stay in and read/ relax or drive 20 -30 min and sight see area attractions. Enjoyed the trails on property, had a campfire, fed farm animals, gathered a few eggs and even cleaned out stalls! The owners (Walton and Betty) were helpful, sweet, and easy to reach. Couldn’t have been better!!❤️

Slice of Farm Heaven in the Mountains
Words cannot describe how wonderful of a stay and experience this was for our family! Betty and Walton are some of the sweetest people We have met and fantastic hosts. Every morning we went to the farm and fed the chickens, bunnies, pigs, and other animals, hunted for fresh eggs, and groomed the horses. You can be as hands on as you want to be! The animals are well loved and cared for and we all developed personal relationships with them. My son was even able to imitate the donkey sounds for Penelope and they communicated back and forth. The farmhouse is older and did not have AC but was well equipped with everything we needed to cook meals and fans. There is a swing, creek, fairy garden trails, Apple trees, ponds for swimming and finding, and several trail hikes on property one with a beautiful waterfall. We did not leave the property the entire time and had such a great time. Grocery pick up was super easy on the way in Boone as well. We had a wonderful time making memories and will be sure to come back. The kids wanted to move there and stay forever :)

So much to do
My husband and I stayed for a week with our four kids ages 1-9. We had so much fun feeding the animals, hiking the trails, fishing, etc. we never had to leave the farm. The hosts were friendly and even had fun activities set up that made exploring the property more fun, like a treasure hunt and a fairy forest scavenger hunt. Our family would love to visit again!

Looking forward to our third visit!
This farm has been a wonderful respite from "city" life for my family and grand children. They actually prefer this vacation to visiting Disney World, and that's saying something! WE stayed for 10 days and enjoyed every minute. Plenty to do on the farm and nearby too. I highly recommend this experience to families with children. We will be back next summer!

Our 4th of July getaway
We finally returned after almost 2 years away and once again were reminded of why we love this farm so much. Walton and Betty are such wonderful hosts. Our kids, 5 and 6 loved every bit of the farm and enjoyed seeing all of their favorite animals again. From fishing, to feeding animals, to hiking the property, we loved it all. We mostly stuck around Todd and the farm...the bakery in Todd and then played in the river.

Relaxing Getaway for the Family
We loved our stay at the farmhouse. Our two girls, ages 6 and 8, enjoyed feeding and taking care of the animals and running around on the trails. They especially loved feeding the chickens and gathering eggs as well as feeding the rabbits and petting the horses. Heidi, one of the dogs, was an excellent host as well accompanying us on hikes and adventures on the farm. The hosts also organized a treasure hunt and created a fairy trail that our girls loved. Mr. Walton, the farmer, was extremely patient and kind. Our girls ask a lot of questions, and he answered them all while showing them the ropes of taking care of the various animals. We were even able to babysit newborn chicks for a couple of days. A fantastic experience for animal-loving kids. The farmhouse was clean and spacious. The bathroom was huge! We had everything we needed and didn't leave once in three days. The hosts answered questions quickly and were available if we needed anything. My favorite thing to do was sit on the swing on the porch and enjoy the peacefulness of the country. We will be back!

Thrice as Nice
This is our 3rd trip to Willet Farm and it is always memorable. The farm house is so spacious and rustic. There were 7 of us there and plenty of room. The bathroom is huge so don't let that throw you that there is only one. The family are the kindest people you will ever meet, thoughtful, and respond quickly to questions. Our 5 year old chose to come here again for her 5th birthday so she could feed the animals, see the horses, and especially see Heidi again, who visited with us for a while one morning and then in the evening by the campfire. There is plenty to do around the farm or go to the Todd bakery/mercantile or into West Jefferson shops and restaurants. We did snow tubing at Hawk's Nest as well. We had a nice relaxing Saturday afternoon watching movies, playing games, napping, cooking a meal together at the farm house and having a campfire. This farm has brought our family so many treasured memories. We have also stayed at the Nest property as well a few years back and had a blast there too.

Advertised as an old farmhouse and it definitely WAS. We feel it was overpriced in comparison to other rural properties we have rented.. it had only one bathroom with a toilet that was loose and not too aesthetic. Beds were clean but only full size and super firm. Kitchen floor needed mopped. It had a very stale odor when we arrived, and we needed to use lots of pot pourri. The owners are super nice.!!! The animals and fowl were fun!!!!

Wonderful Experience
We had almost the whole family on the Visit to the Farm. The Weather was a bit rainy and the Grandkids had a cold, so we didn't get to explore the property like we would have liked to. We hope to return in the early summer and do more hiking. The area is beautiful and the creek beside the cabin can be heard from the front porch. We saw deer everyday, the chickens and Peacocks came to visit. Also the pig, she was so good with the kids. I had always dreamed of Retiring in a Country Farmhouse in the NC Mountains. It was exactly the way I pictured my own home would be. I could have stayed forever. We had such a Great time. Thank You so much for sharing with us. Pure mountains!!!
We stayed at the old farmhouse and had a fantastic weekend. The house is very charming, clean, and has everything we needed. The owners are extremely helpful and accommodating. Our 4yr old absolutely loved the fairy house trail and feeding the animals every night. The morning visits from Heidi, the collie on the farm, were an added benefit. Enjoyed our morning coffee on the porch and the clear dark skies for stargazing. Perfect mountain get away. We look forward to returning.

Perfect Family Getaway!
Great place to stay. The owners were extremely helpful and our family of four had a blast. Kids loved all the animals and the Fairy Forest trail. Mr. Walton gave us some fishing worms and we caught catfish and bream out of the farm ponds. This house is located toward the end of a dead end road so there is very little traffic. My only complaint was that the mattresses on the beds upstairs are in need of replacement. Super cool place to visit, we will definitely be returning.

Great stay at the farm.
We booked this trip to allow our granddaughters to experience living on a farm. The loft bedrooms were their very own play and sleep areas. They had full access to the animals, chickens, pig, rabbits and horses and had a great time gathering eggs in sundry places. There was a great little hiking trail with a scavenger hunt. The hosts were very 'child-friendly.' We had a very relaxing time sitting on the porch while the children played. The farm is beautiful. We went to the High Gravity Adventure and had lunch at Coyote Kitchen for an outing. Boone is a short drive away. The only downside was that the girls did not want to leave after our four-day stay.

A week on the farm
This is a working farm, which we expected. The children loved feeding the animals and all the activities on the farm. The adults enjoyed the peaceful nights and mountain air. The home is very dated and old - which is not bad in itself but there were a lot of ants and bugs. No air conditioning, which was only a problem for 1 or 2 nights. We did not swim in the pond. We were able to ride the horses and feed and wash them as well as feeding other animals. Friendly dogs that walked with us each evening. Lots of fun activities on the farm too.

A Magical Stay
This was a perfect family getaway for us. The farmhouse had tons of room and everything we needed. The property was absolutely lovely- I drank my coffee on the front porch every morning to soak it all in. Hosts could not have been more welcoming. The kids loved feeding the pig, guinea fowl, horses, peacocks, chickens, bunnies, etc. Dogs and Josephine the pig came to the house and visited us. House was warm and cozy when it was 5 degrees outside with winds gusting (which is highly unusual weather in the area). 4 girls loved their loft bedrooms upstairs. Beautiful property.

Fun place to stay!
We loved our stay at the old farmhouse. Our kids loved all the animals and we loved the beautiful and peaceful mountain setting. What a unique experience getting to feed the animals and hike the trails and just get away from normal life. We would gladly go back, and we hope to one day. {Just to manage your expectations, though, its not exactly a well-equipped vacation rental house, its an old farmhouse!}

Great experience, great family time!
Our family very much enjoyed the mountain "farm" experience! I highly recommend this experience for families who like to explore new things and want to get a little "feel" for Appalachian, mountain farm life. There is always something to do. Highlights: sleeping with windows cracked in 34 degree weather listening to rushing water, the stars, boys out from 8:30-5:30 coming in worn out, fed, and falling into bed by 8:30. Building fires in the fire pit with Dad, feeding Josephine our scraps, (I wish I had a pig!) Walking the property, exploring the property, helping Walton with his smoke house, riding on the tractor, the swing, walking around with Turk and Heidi,. exploring the old books and the architecture of the older portion of the house. Exploring the Pioneer house...But mostly, the time quality time with family. What a great memory for us! Walton and Betty are skilled hosts! Thank you for sharing your property with us!

Experience living on a farm
Our family of 4 really enjoyed the Old farmhouse and the surrounding property and adventures. Our boys, 2yo and 4yo, enjoyed it all from exploring trails, finding hidden treasure all over the property, feeding the animals, catching trout, cooking outside over the fire, cooking s’mores pver the fire, and being disconnected from phones, computers and TVs. So much to do and to explore...we didn’t leave the farm during our 5-day stay! Highly recommended...we are already planning next year.

The most serene and perfect family getaway.
We loved every minute of the farm life. We happened to come here at the end of our hurricane evacuation. Betty and Walton were so patient and accommodating. We have a 3 and 5 year old who begged us to stay on the farm forever. I was fully refueled after this vacation. The farm was so relaxing that we really didn’t have time to do anything around Boone. There is so much to explore in the areas but the farm has enough to do...fishing, hiking, feeding animals, reading, relaxing. I would highly recommend the Willet Ponds Farm to anyone and everyone. We will be returning yearly or even twice a year.
