”Nice hostel/motel, there is everything you need for a couple night stay. Only thing is, there is no lockers where you can store your bags/valuables so you really have to trust your roommates.”

”Unfortunately we didn't quite realise just how small the cabin we booked was. I suppose this is not the facilities fault as they haven't falsely advertised it but it was seriously small. Once the sun went down if you weren't going out you were pretty much stuck laying on the bed as there's no room really to sit anywhere else.I think that they should maybe put on the website just how small they are so you know exactly what you're walking into”

”This hostel is great. It's a little out of the way if you don't have a car, but the bus is only $3 from the airport and it's only an 11 minute walk. They have chocolate pudding every evening at 8pm. *(for Americans, it's not milky, liquidy pudding, but baked "pudding".) It gets pretty cold in the fall/winter. ”I booked and arrived late, a lovely young woman welcomed me and showed me to my cute little self-contained unit in the back garden. Very grateful for the room at that time. It was well stocked with all i the appliances etc I needed. Quiet. Shower floor could have done with a clean. ”

”Pros: -Great location, super quick walk from the ferry and cafes -friendly atmosphere -good sized private rooms with sink -nice garden area for relaxing -great value for money Areas for improvement -people were quiet but the nature of the building means if anyone arrives late it’s quite loud due to the wooden floors and thin walls -kitchen wasn’t well equipped - no baking trays, foil, salt/pepper, which was a bit limiting if you want to cook for yourself. ”

”It took me a while to find the entrance (back of the building). And notice that there are some clubs nearby so it can get noisy at night. Entrance was a bit dirty with rubbish on the ground and it wasn't really pleasant when there was people smoking right in front of the door, but after that I really enjoyed my stay. Staff was super friendly and informative, they made sure everything was fine and working. The room was a bit small and the bathroom could use some upgrading but everything...

”The high score must be from all partiers at Paradise. The hostel is apparently "the worst" in Nelson as we heard afterwards from many people. We had a private room at the motel's side which was a plus because it was quiet. It should've been a double bed but it was just 2 mattresses next to each other and the gap was very unconfortable so it was as food as a twin room with one blanket. What shocked us the most was how people behave at the hostel, especially the kitchen! 1/10 cleaned after...

”The place was REALLY dirty and full of flies. It was full of long termers (really nice and friendly people) and it seemed fun place to stay if you were working somewhere close but as a traveller it wasn't so pleasant when the dorm room door was open and there were a lot of people from another rooms just hanging out. ”
