Freiblick Apartment Gerlitzen by WÖRTHWHILE

From the moment you arrive, you notice that different rules apply up here: the road winds up from Lake Ossiach to the Kanzelhöhe, part of the route is subject to a toll, and at around 1,500 metres, everyday life is finally left behind in the valley. You park your car in your own space in the underground garage. The apartment is located in a holiday complex, surrounded by forest, and you have a view of the middle station of the Kanzel cable car from here.



Freiblick bears its name because of the view. The apartment has been completely renovated and offers plenty of space across 90 m², with the living and dining area and its large windows forming its centrepiece. Two covered balconies open up views far across the valley to the mountain ranges on the horizon. On clear winter days, the sea of fog sometimes lies beneath you whilst the sun shines above, and in the evening you sit at the balcony table and watch the light fade over the peaks.



Meals are shared here at the large dining table with bench seating, and the open kitchen is right next to it. It is well equipped, with a ceramic hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, coffee machine and toaster, and for a cosy evening there is even a raclette grill in the cupboard. Music and lighting can be conveniently controlled via the iPad on the wall. A washing machine and tumble dryer are also available, which quickly become your favourite appliance after a day's skiing or a long hike.



You sleep in two bedrooms: one with a double bed, the other with three single beds, ideal for children or friends. In addition, there is a large sofa bed measuring 1.80 by 2 metres in the living area, so up to seven people can be accommodated. One bathroom has a bath, shower and toilet, and in the second bathroom awaits what makes this apartment special: your own sauna. Allow around two hours for it to heat up, then it is all yours after a day outdoors. It is best to bring your own hairdryer.



In winter, the day begins with a short walk to the Kanzelbahn and leads onto the slopes of Gerlitzen Alpe, where beginners and children feel comfortable too; ski equipment finds its place in the ski depot on the premises. In summer, you put on your hiking boots and set off directly from the mountain, or you drive down to swim in Lake Ossiacher See. For the little ones, children's books and toys are available, there is also a table tennis table, and your pet is welcome too.



Two honest notes belong here: The internet runs up here via mobile network at up to around 30 Mbit/s and can become significantly slower in bad weather; this is not always enough for video conferences, but it is usually sufficient for a holiday. And shopping is a short drive away, as the supermarkets are located down in Treffen. For small items like milk, there is a vending machine shop in the house. In winter, the car should be well equipped; in heavy snowfall, the road can be closed.
