1. Underground Dugout - Outback Plains View

White Cliffs

”A really memorable stay and such a unique experience. The underground accommodation was very clean, with no unpleasant smell at all. We visited in winter and were surprised by how warm and comfortable it was inside. The location is a little difficult to find at first, but the host was very helpful and contacted us beforehand, sending a video with clear directions, so we were able to find it without too much trouble. Staying underground was something completely different from anywhere we had...

4. The Astra Hotel

Broken Hill

”A beautiful hotel with a well appointed room. Comfortable beds, nice spa. With only 8 rooms, the hotel felt cosy with all extras in the rooms to make the stay comfortable. We used the verandah to have our breakfast and look out upon the town waking up. That verandah was pretty dirty with some old furniture stored, but there was a table for us to use and we enjoyed that option. Actually with no table inside the room for having breakfast, it was our only option. We loved the atmosphere of the...

6. Hilltop Motel

Broken Hill

”Nice and neat room to stay in, overall fairly tidy and the thick walls made for some nice peace and quiet. Staff would come to do housekeeping (e.g. making the bed) but it would've been nice if they could've replaced our towels as we had nowhere to dry them sufficiently. The bathroom was on the small side and had no fan to get rid of the condensation, so we had to open a window that lead to a random hallway behind all the rooms which did not have a privacy screen on it so not the most...

”First of all. On arrival mid afternoon the reception was locked. No clear sign of what to do. I phoned the number on the door and it didn’t work. Then phoned the number that said ‘emergency/after hours’. The gentleman who answered was helpful and efficient. But if left unattended, there should be clear instructions. Very basic accommodation. Bedroom had one bedside table only, no bedside lamps. There was an electric blanket but one side didn’t have a power outlet nearby. Room was tight and very...

”It was just exactly what we needed for our 2 night freshen up before completing our trip to South Australia. Good beds, comfortable and well equipped for a decent meal.Great shower and grateful to do some washing. Loads of TV's hit the mark. Little Mate felt right at home and enjoyed exploring the yard and not being tied up like the hotel rooms and cabins.Excellent price for those on a budget. Would definitely rent again if passing through Broken Hill.”
