Beautiful setting
Our stay in Vashon was especially memorable, the house is just beautiful, well appointed, and the water front access is instant. We appreciated how there were boots for us to enjoy the streams and beach, and a warm fireplace for the evenings. We will be back!

Transcendent!
My husband and I came for a weekend getaway to explore Vashon. We were absolutely delighted by everything about this house: the historic nature, the amazing location, the water view featuring birds, otters, and the changing weather. The cozy fireplace, comfy bed, and luxurious clawfoot tub took our stay to the next level. We loved it all!

Gorgeous home on a private cove
The Belle Baldwin home on Fern Cove is a gem! We usually go to Pt Robinson and decided to try this home instead- I’m so glad we did! The home itself is beautifully restored and the view are incredible. We appreciated the boots for low tide exploring. The beach is sandy and nice for a picnic. Sunsets are gorgeous. And the bird watching is superb. Comfy beds and cozy chairs were perfect for relaxing. The fireplace makes a great spot to warm up after a chilly morning outside. Overall, we loved the home. Thanks for sharing it with us all!

I can’t recommend this place highly enough. Comfortable, peaceful and perfectly clean. Great kitchen and large living spaces to relax and enjoy views of the water and wildlife. Just a few steps to access great hiking trails. The Parks staff who manage the property were very helpful and responsive.

Like going to Grandmother’s Lake House in 1955
I’m in love with The Belle Baldwin House. Step back in time as if my family were doctors and had the foresight around the turn of the last century to build a house on Fern Cove. The furnishings add to the feeling of casual comfort. The claw foot bathtub’s perfect and the water blissfully hot. The view of the water and trees I find it amazing that I can spend time here.

Autumn perfection
We had a small gathering with 2 adults and 2 teens. We had such a fantastic time at this property! The photos really do not do this place justice. We visited in late October and it was Autumn perfection; beautiful leaves, cool temperatures and magical misty mornings. We spent hours watching birds and seals in the water. The home itself was clean and inviting, with comfortable beds and lots of extra pillows. The kitchen was updated and well stocked. We will definitely return to this hidden gem!

Charming getaway close to the city
This feels like a magical spot, in a beautiful, spacious house. The main living room was great for a mixed group with babies and young kids to hang out, and cozy for the adults after kid bedtimes. We had hours of fun on the beach throwing rocks and listening to the birds. Already planning our return trip.

Beautiful historic home overlooking the sound. Peaceful and tranquil.
Loved our stay in this home. It is the perfect spot to relax and rejuvenate, watch ducks and seals, do puzzles, cook and walk on the beach. The only caveat I have is for anyone with difficulty walking on uneven paths, with no lighting at night. It would be difficult to walk to and from the house.

Exceptional home with an incredible setting!
Absolutely loved our time at the house. It was amazing to be right on the water and the kids especially enjoyed the tide going in and out and immersed themselves in the marine and bird life. Thank you for your assessment of our property. As with most 100 plus year-old houses on historic registers, we are limited to improvements we can make. We could not add a second bathroom to this property even if we wanted to, due to those restrictions. Just adding handrails to the back steps was a six months-long process going through the Department of Historic Preservation. The wood floors are original, and this is the only such comment we ever have had about their squeakiness, but I will ask the maintenance department to inspect for excessive noise. I am not certain if you are referring to the house being dark, as shaded out (it is surrounded by trees on three sides), or from the interior lighting. Most of the interior lighting is original, we have had to replace a few lamps that guests broke this summer and you may have caught us in-between replacing those. The upstairs is not advertised as "available." It is closed off because Belle Baldwin left it unfinished and we are legally not permitted to finish it. Again, due to the house being on the Washington State Historic Register, we have to leave the overall state of the property in its original state. Had she finished it, we could have restored the upstairs. You will be hard-pressed to find a 100 - year-old waterfront property without traps in unfinished basements. This site is on an estuary hosting thousands of migrating birds, and poison traps are not an ecological decision we would be comfortable with. This is the second comment I have now received about the "small" TV in the house since installing it five years ago. Ironically, I have had complaints that we even have televisions. While it is a smart television (Netflix, Amazon, and other apps) I will be updating it to a larger unit. We do appreciate you staying with us. It helps us keep this remarkable property available to the public. It is certainly not perfect, but there are few sites like it.

Past and present meet
It’s a great house. It feels like you stepped out of time but you still have all of the modern amenities. Everyone commented that the beds were so comfortable—unexpectedly great! It was charming and lovely for a grown-up girlfriends getaway. We noticed a leak under the bathroom sink basin and the drain plug was stuck down so we did not use the bathroom sink. With only one bathroom, that meant we had to wash our hands in the kitchen sink after using the restroom. I did report it to the property manager by message on Saturday and did not hear back. We expected that was an anomaly and managed without. Overall, great, quiet, scenic house and location!

Little house in the big Woods
Our second stay at Belle Baldwin to be with extended family on the island was delightful, with lots of time to drink in the view of the creek snaking through the delta and quite a bit of wildlife, too: a doe and fauns came through at high tide, and a seal and many gulls, ducks, and Canada geese were present every night. Younger family members hiked from the upper trailhead to the homestead, we made a short foray along the flat part of the trail by the creek with Grandma and the kids, and my husband and I walked the trails multiple ways, including the new spur to the Island elder care facility. Another bonus this year was the presence of a little farmstand not too far up the road where we supplemented salads and stir fry with local tomatoes and squash. A wonderful home away from home away from home.

Quiet retreat
This waterfront home is tucked in a forest of trees and was a wonderful retreat from the pandemic. We ate dinner every evening on the outdoor tables which gave us beautiful views of the water, geese and tidelands.

Fun family getaway on Vashon Island
We stayed at Belle Baldwin House which was conveniently down the beach from a friend's cabin and short walk with the tide out. It was fun reading about the history of the house and original owner. The house was very clean and Eric a great host.

Charming
Charming house, good amenities, easy check-in. Eric was very responsive about wifi issues (wifi is a bit slow, might be a router issue? We worked it out though and it was fine). The area is gorgeous, and Bill's trail (a hiking trail across the street) was stunning. The only downside was it could have been a little cleaner. Lots of dead flies on windows and spider webs gave it more of a rustic cabin feel, and the cove does get whiffy at low tide. It's not really a swimming beach. Overall though a great holiday for a great price. Thank you!

A Quiet Respite
A great spot to get away, slow down, and rest. A journey back in time to a slower pace of life. A wonderful spot on an estuary, which makes it perfect for bird watching.

Weekend stay with the grandchildren
One of the nicest VRBO stays we have experienced. Everything you need for an exceptional stay. Location was excellent for us. We actually planned a "Seattle" vacation and didn't want to stay in Seattle. We were able visit the birds, seals and deer. Beach/trail access was better than expected. Private and safe. Amazing weekend
Unforgettable experience. Great views of the seals. We recommend this stay and will certainly come back during summer time to enjoy the garden by the Puget Sound.

We enjoyed our stay in this natural setting with sea lions playing in the water from bedroom window. We took relaxing walks on the beach just outside the door and trail walks next to the property. The only downside was the confusion over which house we supposed to check into, but the management was available after hours to quickly correct any problems.
