Property and room were clean, staff helpful with recommendations of places to eat and visit, and the location was great. Room had a kitchenette with all necessary items to make meals. The building is right across the street from Beacon Hill Park (beautiful flowers, multiple species of trees, and wildlife) and a quick walk to groceries, restaurants, and downtown Victoria. Would absolutely stay at Helms Inn again!

The employee at the front desk was extremely helpful and friendly. Was willing to show us the room before we checked in and addressed all our concerns. The rooms were lovely, clean, and modern. Bed was comfortable. We did have to pay for paying and would have been better if included. It was within walking distance to harbor, Imax, park, and restaurants Would definitely stay there again.

Comes with a kitchenette and great location! Staff were friendly and professional. Very clean and modern furnishing in the rooms despite being an old building. The only thing is that the AC is quite loud and blows quite strongly at you, so it might bother light sleepers during the hot summer months

We managed to book one of the few remaining available rooms at Helms. We mentioned a few times while on the ferry that we hope the place is okay. We were definitely surprised and very pleased with location, with our room and with the staff. We will definitely choose this hotel on our next visit.

What a great find! This will be our 'go to' in Victoria. Although an older property, it is well maintained and the units are spacious, comfortable and very clean. The location couldn't be better. Highly recommended

We liked the closeness to the downtown area, but had sadly a suite which has a number of stairs into the apartment and from the bedroom to the washroom. With two elderly parents this was not the ideal apartment to stay. Sadly it was not possible to move to another apartment.

This hotel is new and clean. I stayed only for a night. It’s in the city and closed to a big park. I will be stay again when I return to here. The receptionist was very nice.

The good news is that the room was recently refurbished, with all new flooring and furniture. It was roomy with a kitchenette and the water pressure in the shower was great. And it was not too expensive compared to other nearby properties. It is also in a great location - close to downtown but not so close the it would be noisy at closing time. The only negatives are that I was on the third floor and it is a walk up; the hallway carpets are a little tired; and the water in the shower oscillated in temperature just a bit. Overall would go back and would recommend.

For the price this hotel was great. A bunch of buses ran close to the hotel to get us all around the city. The park was across the street and an easy walk to restaurants. Our room had a separate bedroom with two double beds and a kitchen which worked well for us.

This is a hidden gem!! The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the room was fantastic. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen setup had everything we could ever need. Walkable to everything (attractions, grocery, dining, entertainment, shopping) yet no noise disturbances when trying to sleep. My teenage daughter begged to stay longer! We highly recommend it!

Lovely quiet room #304. Even though it is on a fairly busy street, this suite is quite soundproof. It's also spacious, and newly refurbished. We enjoyed looking out on the trees. We were happy to leave our car parked and walk to Beacon Hill Park kitty corner across the street, and to the Parliament Building and harbour. We enjoyed several good meals at the James Bay Inn restaurant, a few blocks away.

It’s “quaint” - old, old-fashioned, in an old neighborhood and housing lots of old people (and next door to a seniors’ housing unit!). Staff are great, parking well-lit (lots of signs/warnings about theft risk), room was spacious (had a full kitchen!), bed comfortable and proximity to lots of shops and the harbor. On the downside, traffic noise was a nuisance, climbing stairs (no elevator) sucks when you have a bum knee, and the carpets were looking quite B-grade.

Cleanliness was poor. Dirty tables in the suite. The towels were for 2 people in a room booked for 3. The furniture in the room is bad, the sofa fabric is so bad, that it itches. Had a bad experience this time.
