Always a wonderful stay one of the best properties and hosts ever
I always enjoy my stay here with my dog. This is truly one of the best hosts here and one of the best properties along with their other ones. It’s a great neighborhood and area right by the beach. The house is delightful every time I stay there there is something new they are always updating and making sure it is immaculately cleaned. Comfortable and well-maintained. The Wi-Fi is super fast for my work. I’m already looking forward to coming back again soon.

We only provide local TV channels , however we provide apple TV which you can use to watch Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and most other streaming services that you have a subscription too. The TV is an LG 50 inch flat screen TV.

Not a nice place at all!
Pictures posted did not depict cottage. It was filthy. Gunk on bass boards, radiators had items behind them and dirty. Kitchen ceiling is ready to fall in. Black mold in Bathroom. Windows so filthy you couldn’t barely see through. On could go on. I wanted to leave the next day but as my husband started, it’s already paid for. The sad thing is it could be a lovely place with some TLC.

Bare Bones - Needs Some Love
Great location. AC. Kinda buggy, had to plug some holes and cracks. Painfully small bathroom. Uncomfortable bed. Hard mattress and pillows, creaky bed frame. Was reluctant to return here every night to suffer though the bed. No door mat, kitchen towels or bath mat. WiFi is from the other house, signal only reaches the front rooms. My family was staying in two other cabins nearby and they were much nicer at a similar price, so shop around.

Comfortable and convenient
We planned a last-minute trip and needed a reasonably-priced stay. This home had what we needed to be close to our family living in the area. We spent most of our time at our relatives, visiting and eating meals; however, this home worked out for our family of 6, traveling with our dog.

Not terrible, not great either
The cottage was an okay visit. While it appeared to have been attempted to be restored, there was improvement still needed. From the paint chipping off the walls to the drab paint on the walls. The cottage also had a dusty smell as if it hadn’t been aired out in awhile, which was shown by some of the dust collected on the shades. The remotes were sticky which was a quick turn off. There was no patio furniture or hammock set up as in the photos. The heating system was efficient and there was a clear attempt at trying to make the place feel comfortable. The location was a good location in Westerly, other than having a chicken coop on the property and being downwind from a farm.

Hi Kevin, I installed a new granite counter top kitchen recently. I do need to touch up a couple of walls in the kitchen after the install. We used to have chickens about 7 years ago but the small coop has been empty since then. The farm is actually very cool and the farmer is very friendly. The farm is about half mile away but definitely cool to see. My boys use to enjoy visiting there when they were younger.

We had a great time at this cottage, nestled behind a couple of homes. Clean, the size was perfect for us, just off shore rd, so easy to get around. If you plan to rent this unit and want to cook, you should pack the basics. The only spice provided was a pepper shaker.

Beautiful upgrades on kitchen and bath on an already lovely home and property
I have rented this house many times; this and this great hosts’ other house are two of my favorites, and this time I was impressed with the upgrades made since my last visit to the kitchen and bathroom. I noticed it as soon as I walked in! Gorgeous new counter and sink and modern faucet and lots of cabinets! Already a big fridge and good stove make this a nice house to cook in, lots of dishes, glassware and cooking stuff, good coffeemaker, with a dining area and the living room comfortable and adjacent with plenty of seating. One of those houses where you can find a pen, corkscrew, birthday candles, the beach pass, delivery menus and more in - I love that as a frequent traveler. The shower has this big rain shower showerhead now which is so delightful with the always plentiful hot water. It elevates the shower stall a lot! Always a lot of towels, nice and clean and soft. The house as always was immaculately cleaned for my stay. Their cleaning service does the most thorough job. It’s so nice to get the key and walk in and everything is just perfect to relax and enjoy your stay. I also do super productive work here; the Internet service provided is fast and reliable. It’s quiet and restful with also a lot of great things to do locally of course the amazing beaches, the nearby casinos in Connecticut and excellent restaurants all around. The beach pass to Wuskenau is such a nice privilege for summer parking and being able to go to one of the best beaches in the Ocean State. It’s right next to the state beach at Misquamicut and the waves are fantastic and the water and shoreline pristine. Plus the immediate property to the house and neighborhood are beautiful, the landscaping and a nearby nature preserve are great walking areas. My dog absolutely loves it here. At night it is so quiet you can hear the ocean waves on the beach shore nearby and the sky is filled with stars that are bright and clear. The fire pit is a fun outside gathering place in the yard for hanging out toasting marshmallows having a glass of wine or a soda or coffee and enjoying the ocean breezes. Sleeping is delightful with such comfortable beds and super clean high quality bedding. I always have a well rested, comfortable and happy time here. It’s the perfect place to relax, work away from home, or do both. You can tell every detail is thought out with the comfort and enjoyment of the guests in mind.

Hi Joanne, Thanks for the review. We bought new furniture for the living room and installed a new granite counter top kitchen. Sorry about the insects, I'll keep a closer eye out for that this spring and summer. I've put some ant bait traps out to keep out any ants.

Disappointment and disgusted
My wife and I try to take our boys 12 and 15 away twice a year for a family vacation and we have been renting properties without any issues through VRBO. We work hard and save our money and have been going to Westerly for the last few years as it offers a little bit of everything for everyone. This property is located in the part of town that we all love close to the beaches we enjoy and easy to get to. That’s all this property has. The 5 star reviews must be from friends and family. The cleanliness was well just not true at all. There was mold on the Weber grills actual green mold. There was surface mold in the bathroom which is so small it’s pretty much not even functional for doing your daily routine. I mean it’s so small it’s like a toddler toilet and shower that’s like a standing coffin and it was filthy. Then the “linens” looked more like rags your would clean with or dry vehicle with not dry your body. So we bought towels at Walmart. The kitchen is decent size but the the silver wear was disgusting covered in food. No utensils at all for cooking like say oh a spatula. The coffee pot was broken so the only way to make a pot of coffee was to boil water in a pot then pour it over the beans and into the filter. That’s a whole lotta fun! To say it’s small would be an understatement it’s got crappy furniture and the rooms are undersized with oversized beds. Not really any storage to speak of for clothing and all the stuff one brings for a week of vacation on the beach. The washing machine when we arrived was clogged with sand. And the owners knew they “fixed it” but then didn’t turn the water back on. It was also full of mold and mildew. And then there are the dead rotting decaying mice I found in the house as well that was a really nice touch. Oh and it has a sweet sess pool. That empties right we’re the grill is set up so every time you wash something or the toilet flushes you get that nice odor. This house could be great even if they say mowed the grass. And did some basic up keep would be nice. But why would you when your getting $2550 a week from hard working people and you don’t need to. Don’t rent this place is you have any self respect and don’t want to essentially “camp”. In all honesty your better off getting a cabin at Burlingame and using the showers and toilets there than this hovel of a house. If anyone wants pictures just DM. I’ll gladly forward some along like I did to VRBO but they don’t really care either so that’s all!!

Sorry you did not enjoy your stay. I dont think your review is fair at all. I currently have 93 reviews with a 4.5 rating. I do agree that the house is in a great location. Agreed also that the bathroom is small, regular sized toilet and 30 inch stand up shower and 30 inch sink. The house does have a 2 bedroom septic system. Noted on the grill and utensils and will make sure that is taken care of. I apologize about the washer. We received your message that it was not draining on Saturday evening and had it fixed on Sunday morning. Had you notified me about the coffee pot I would have brought over a new one right way.

Great location, needs updating
I’m not sure if we’d stay in this rental again. The location is great, only a mile from the beach and we were able to walk there and back easily. But given the price, I didn’t feel the property met the standards I’m used to at other rentals listed for similar rates. When we first entered, I was pretty disappointed. It had a strong musty odor, and I noticed many run down or dilapidated elements. It’s too bad it had an air of neglect. We actually thought about trying to find a hotel nearby instead, but we stuck it out. There were several dead cockroaches on the floor which freaked me out and the coffee pot didn’t work. Definitely needs a paint job and new windows and cabinets. The bathroom is tiny and would be difficult to share with more than 2 people. The bedsheets were very worn out. But if you can look past these things, it’s really not a bad place. Can’t say I would give it a 5 star rating, but if the price came down we would rent again just for the location alone. I think with some updates and TLC, this could be a really sweet little place. As the week went on the odor dissipated. The hammock was really lovely and the little table on the front porch was nice to sit at in the mornings.

So nice I booked it twice
So cute this house but yet so comfortable and surprisingly big inside I ended up booking it for two weeks instead of one. This is one of my very favorite rentals along with the other house owned by the host on this property which is in such a terrific area right by the beach and a beautiful nature preserve. This is our house also has a wonderful backyard really big which my dog and I enjoyed a lot. The house is so comfortable and stocked with everything you need. I’m sure I’ll be back here again soon.

The little house is big on comfort, cleanliness and amenities
I’m having such a great stay at the little house I ended up taking another week then renting the big house a few days too! I think that pretty much says it all but I just want to say as a repeat renter from these hosts in both their houses and properties it is one of the best overall travel experiences ever. The little house is really not that little both bedrooms are very comfortable the master bedroom has a very nice queen bed and the other bedroom has bunkbeds. As usual with this host there are very nice sheets and towels and lots of cookware in the kitchen and just about everything you need for a relaxing stay. The Internet is super fast and I work from wherever I am so it’s very important. The place is immaculate I actually met one of their cleaning staff today and told them they do the best job here. The location of the property is just wonderful right by the beaches and nature preserve. It is really easy to get to, and right nearby there is a Walmart gas and restaurants and more. I would not hesitate to book this property now if you are considering it because it’s going to book up fast if it’s not already.

Really cold in the cottage
We had put up the heat to 70 thinking it would warm up but it was still very cold in the bedrooms even with the doors open. We tried to put it up one more degree and realize they had locked us out remotely. 😂 Then the Alexa thing kept coming on randomly which was weird, and the curtains were dirty in the bunk room. When the heater kicked in too it sounded like something was banging in the furnace. Kinda scary. Lol … def a funny story now tho. The local area was super nice at least.

Needs cleaning - Okay for short-term stay.
Small house in a good area that is okay for weekend trips if you do not mind the following cons: mold in the bathroom (no fan....could not imagine sharing this tiny bathroom with more than 2 people), mouse droppings in the oven (in proofing drawer with cooking trays), kitchen window does not lock (luckily it is a safe area), general uncleanliness (crumbs, dust, etc. in corners of rooms), no dishwasher - dishes had remnants of unwashed food from prior tenants. We also found two acorns inside the pre-made bed suggesting there were squirrels inside the bed before us. Pros: Cozy bed (despite the acorns), quick easy drive to Weekapaug & sunset overlook, as well as Walmart. Quiet cottage has potential to be cute with updates, pest control, and cleaning. I hope my review does not deter future tenants, so long as the owners address these Health and Safety issues.

Lovely location
We stayed for a weekend in November. The location is wonderful! Right between Mystic and Providence, a short drive to the beach for a stroll. The house is very functional and practical. Great for a weekend stay. We were 2 adults, a 4-year-old, and 2 medium dogs. It might have felt cramped if we were a larger group, but this was ideal.

Cozy little house
This was a very cozy little house. The perfect size for 2 people. We brought our dog along and it was just the right size for all of us. A few small things that we noticed were that there were no paper towels available in the house or writing utensils. The check out time that showed on my check out instructions said 11 AM, but above it said checkout was at 10 AM. That left us slightly confused. Overall, this was a nice, cozy, small little house to stay for the weekend. The owners were very nice and pleasant. The location is great, just a short drive down to Mystic, CT and also set back off of the main drag which was nice for privacy. We would stay here again for sure! Thank you so much for having us this weekend!

An ideal setting, cozy and inviting cottage, clean and bright, close to everything we wanted but far enough off the main roads to be sooo quiet and relaxing. The bed was probably the most comfortable we've ever slept in (firm!). Very satisfied, would rent this property again. Note to future renters: make sure to have a meal at Haversham's, close by.

Great location on a quiet side street and close to beaches, shopping, dining and historic sites. Wuskenau beach is beautiful and dog friendly. Beds had firm mattresses which we prefer so we they very comfortable. Bathroom is tiny as is the toilet which could be upgraded. Couldn't use the firepit area because of the mosquitos, but probably due to the very wet 2021 summer. Overall a good experience.

Great Getaway
This was the perfect getaway for me and my dogs. I’m grateful that the owners allowed up to two dogs. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. Instructions were clearly spelled out. It’s very close to the beaches which is a plus. Great neighborhood in which to walk the dogs. An overall very pleasant experience and would rent again.

Cute little cottage on great property. It is an older home but had everything we needed. The mattresses were comfy, though a shorter box spring under the queen bed would help; that bed was tall! The wifi extender worked great. Plenty of linens available. The fire pit was nice. There wasn't any firewood left, but that wasn't a big deal.

Needs improvement.
We regret booking this place, it was expensive and much nicer places could be found for the price. We were expecting a better place, particularly inside. Outside, on arrival, the cottage looks appealing, with a big yard. Cheap chairs were scattered all around the yard, including 2 plastic, lightweight Adirondack chairs, one falling apart that should be thrown out. . An old, unusable hammock between 2 trees on the perimeter of the property. A quality self-standing hammock placed on the lawn would be a plus. The entrance is from a worn concrete patio that needs resurfacing, or a deck placed over it. Their is a makeshift stair to the entrance door, 4 loose concrete blocks, one broken, and a steep step up. This is dangerous, a real step is needed. No screen door on the entrance. A nice table w/umbrella is on this patio, newer plastic chairs surrounding it without the big yellow label on each removed...time had not been taken to remove the labels. Inside, the place has no "charm", we were disappointed when we walked in. Although it was clean, it is a bare bones place: chipped paint everywhere, rundown or cheap furniture, duct tape around 3 of the 4 room/ window air conditioners, windows that do not open in the bedrooms( the only way to get fresh air in the 2 bedrooms is to run the a/c), very uncomfortable bunk beds in the 2nd bedroom, suitable for young children only. This place would not hold 4 adults comfortably...., a queen size bed that takes up most of the 1st bedroom that is too high ( short people might need a ladder!). Although the mattress is comfortable and newer, the a/c blows right over the bed. Perhaps the a/c units could be put through the walls so that the windows could be opened and the a/c wouldn't blow right on the beds?. Screens for most windows need replacing. Paint job needed, especially on windows . A tiny bathroom with a child-sized toilet,anyone over 200 lbs or 6' will have a hard time fitting onto it, or getting up from it. And a very small shower stall. A big TV was a plus, although only local channels available, except Netflix and Prime through our accounts..There's a boarded up, paint-chipped entrance door in the living room, perhaps make a big picture window in this space so people can look outside? There were some positives: the location is good, very quiet,the outside yard quiet and spacious. Owners helpful and responsive. Good wireless. If improvements are made this place could be very desireable.

Property needs attention
A little investment in the property would go a long way Screens fir the windows so you can turn the AC off on cool nights. Existing screens had gaps that allow insects in Bunk bed mattresses are no good. Like sleeping on a board. Wi-Fi signal weak or non existent. I believe it comes from the larger house in front, not on premises. Out fit the kitchen a little better. Measuring cups/ spoons and better grill tools. A propane grill to replace the charcoal.

Thanks for the suggestions. Agreed twin mattresses for the spare room need replacing. I just ordered new ones. Agreed with the wifi signal can be improved so it reaches all rooms. I just ordered the google nest wifi system which extends the wifi signal so that it reaches all rooms in the house. Also going to pick up some more kitchen and grilling equipement and will repair the screens. Thanks again for the feedback!

Needs Cleaning & Updating
We were disappointed with our stay here. It was clear that the owners did not put care into this place… The kitchen was disgusting, as previous reviews mentioned we did find mouse droppings in one of the silverware drawers, there was watered down dish soap and a dirty old sponge on the counter… We had to go out and buy a shower curtain because the one there was completely covered in soap scum. Despite the intoxicating smell of bleach, the bathroom walls also were filthy as well as the ceiling fixtures. You can only connect to Wi-Fi if you are standing outside on the front porch but then if you go back inside it disconnects. We tried this on four different devices. Some feedback to the owners: invest in a few inexpensive things like new coffee mugs (the 3 that were there were chipped and stained) towels, and a toilet seat which was also chipped and old. Take the box spring off of the bed in the main room… It is way too high and very uncomfortable to sleep on. It also wouldn’t take much to put a fresh coat of paint in the bathroom, perhaps invest in a gas grill and a Keurig, and hire an actual cleaning service for a deep cleaning. It’s the little things that help make a stay more comfortable and enjoyable.

Sorry you did not enjoy your stay. I did not find any mouse droppings. Sorry about the shower curtain and thank you for picking up a new one. We are switching the floor cleaning solution from pinesol original to the lemon scent which does not smell as strong. Agreed the original scent is too strong but just to clarify, it was not bleach. We brought in some more coffee mugs, we had 6 and increased it to 12. Agreed on the toilet seat and will replace it. Thanks for the feedback!

Beach vacation
The property was older but very clean and nice with air conditioning. The bed in the master has a super comfy mattress but, it's rather high to get on. Some people may need a stool. Beautiful neighborhood, very quiet. We were only 7 minutes to beaches and attractions although unfortunately, the weather only cooperated 3 of the 5 days. Nice place for a couple or small family.

Great place But…..
Great little house. Very clean close to the beach. But I am in my late 50s and my husband is 64 the neighbor called the police on us twice for being too noisy. The rental in front of us were having a great time playing lawn games and the police was called at 245 in the afternoon.

Quaint little beach getaway!
Just a quiet little beach cottage about 1 mile walk to the beach! Beautiful area! One of the neighbors yelled at the rental across from us while we were visiting them outside and laughing/talking at 850pm!!!! The bathroom is very small and tight and the house is pretty outdated but ok for a little getaway! The location is close to beaches and stores and restaurants! Overall enjoyed our three night get away!

Perfect little getaway spot!
We had a wonderful stay at this charming little cottage. It was very clean & well kept. It had a nice big backyard (the only thing that would be better is if it was fenced). We enjoyed coffee in the morning the patio. As others have said the bathroom is tiny but it has everything you need & the shower has good water pressure. The owner was friendly & accommodating. The location is great & it’s a quick trip to many pretty spots- hiking at Kettle Pond, the beaches & stores. Overall great experience for us!

Property is clean and comfortable. Plenty of kitchen equipment. Bathroom is small, but adequate. Loved the location, easy access to just about anywhere on the coast. I would definitely return for a vacation.

A quiet yet convenient neighborhood
The house is located in a quiet pleasant neighborhood, yet it's easy to reach many beaches, downtown Westerly, all kinds of attractions and dining options. Neighbors are really nice. House is very private, has a pleasant yard and is fully stocked for a comfortable stay. Bath is a little small. Beds are comfortable. Big TV. Nice and sunny. We had a good stay.

Disappointment
We were supposed to stay at this property for four nights but we had to leave for a family emergency. The reason we were disappointed is because the home was extremely uncomfortable. The bed was awful and we slept on the blow up mattress instead. The couch was also very uncomfortable. My husband could barely fit into the shower because it was very small. The write up says there was a grill which we did not find in the home or around the property. All we found was a banged up fire pit in the backyard. One of the pictures states that the dog was allowed to go on a certain beach and this was untrue. When we got there to talk to the owner and asked about the dogs going on the beach he confirmed that dogs are not allowed on the beach. This is something that I sent him a note about and they never responded but because the picture had a comment under it that the dog was allowed we thought it would be ok. There was also a huge party at the house that they owned in front of ours with a bunch of 20-year-olds. That would’ve been nice to know about prior to us arriving. I do not recommend this property.

Hi Amy, Sorry you did not enjoy your stay. I inspected the bed and box spring and noticed the box spring needs to be replaced so I ordered a new one. I’m also replacing the existing old style mattress with a new memory foam mattress which I think will be more comfortable. The charcoal grill is kept in the garage. As far as dogs allowed on RI beaches I’ve never stated dogs are allowed on the beach. A quick google search shows that dogs are not legally allowed on RI beaches although I do see many people walking their dogs on the beach. I agree the bathroom is small. Thanks for the feedback on the mattress!
