I stayed at the Sage Hotel in Wollongong for two nights and had one of the best check-in experiences Iâve ever had. Thomas at the front desk was incredibly helpful and even offered me an upgrade from my Executive Balcony Room to a Family Suite. While the gesture was appreciated, the extra living space in the suite felt a little tired and narrow, so I didnât really make use of it.
The room itself was pleasant but definitely showing its age â marks on the walls and skirting boards, bathroom stains, and some dirt in the corners. It could use a fresh coat of paint to match the photos on the website, which looked more polished than reality. I dont drink coffee, but the in room coffee machine had also seen better days. That said, the room was still clean overall.
The location is fantastic â just a short walk to the beach, coastal paths, restaurants, and shops. Parking was secure and hassle-free. The continental breakfast had a great variety (the banana bread was delicious!), and I loved the free ground-floor water station with both still and sparkling options for refilling bottles.
Overall, it was a pleasant stay and Iâd be happy to return in the future. Iâve only marked it down slightly due to the condition of the room and bathroom.
